medicaid/insurance

I live in NY and my SO lives in ME. If we can keep the baby we will be living in Maine. I'm trying to do research on our health insurance options and I'm not sure what to do. I was on medicaid's website and under pregnant women it says it covers us until 6o days after the birth, then my child is eligible for another year. what happens after?? can anyone give me resources or links to help because I'm trying so hard to figure my life and expenses out so we can keep the baby. TIA

It just means that you have to keep recertifing

You'll be covered until 60 days after the birth. Then you can reapply if you are in a financial hardship

The baby will be covered for a year, then you reapply for them if you don't have other insurance

My husband works a job that doesn't offer health insurance. My job offers health insurance, but I would be working solely for health insurance if I went through them. In Ct, the state offers reduced rate state insurance. We still pay, but it isn't nearly as much as private.

Quoting Colt's mommy:" After a year you get your smurf together and get off gov ass. Just saying...."

Seriously? You have to be rude? Don't even try to throw out the "honestly" card either, you were rude as smurf.

OP, it really depends on the state. Someone I know could keep her son on state health insurance after a year but she had to reapply and also be on it herself.

believe me we don't want to be on here long. it's just in Maine most jobs are season. Like his good paying job is only from april to late october/early november and he never needed health insurance from his employer so he is going to ask but believes the coverage is weird since everyone is season. I plan to get a job with benefits soon after the baby but I am just try to see if I or we are eligible for help if we need it. I have insurance at home with my parents that is going to cover my first few appts but after that I am cut off from everything

You have reviews after that first year. Pretty much telling them the situation, how much money you guys are bringing in, the people who live in the house. An every six months after you have to repeat to keep the benefits.

I "honestly" believe that gov ass is meant for a short period of time till you get back on your feet. Unless, of course it's disability or medicare.

Btw, i know i was rude, i don't feel too bad. I am glad that OP trying to figure this out now though. She seems like she wants to get her smurf together.

So you were just rude because someone said they were looking to get on assistance and you know nothing else about the situation really...   People need to get over themselves on here. She asked how long it would cover her which is a legit question she didn't ask how to milk the system.

Yeah whatever. I don't get the feeling that OP is lazy and looking for a hand out so your comment was unnecessary and you know it was which is why you deleted it quick, fast and in a hurry.

I'm only asking because my SO and I are trying to figure out ways to make this work. He is terrified of not having the money, and already works 60-70 hours a week and I'm going to work as much as I can now, but my job doesn't offer benefits and I can't work anymore/anywhere else because I am full time student teaching in hopes of finishing my last year before moving to Maine. His mom was originally on board and now she is telling me to abort because of money and I'm trying to find a way to do it.

Just reapply after the 60 days and they will give you what you are eligible for.

Really now? Smurf you. I can't find a job that provides insurance and pays enough for my 4 kids to be in day/after school care. So yes MY kids are on medicaid and I was on it when I was pregnant you ignorant smurf
