my SO is scaring me

posted 8th Sep
Ok so my SO has been talking about he is dying for the last few days due to some medical issues that we have yet to find the cause. All he can talk about is I'm strong enough to take care of LO on my own when he does die. Today he tells me I should take out an insurance policy on him. My question is how do I go about doing this especially since we are not married?

He takes out a policy and puts you as the beneficiary.

ETA: DH and I did this. I don't want to take out my own policy on him in case something happens. I've seen too many crime shows.

If it's for real, it's hard to get a policy, at least a decent one with a pre-existing condition.

Is he actually dying or scared or whats going on? You just call a life insurance company.

If he is that sick, no one will want to take him, and as far as I know, it takes time to pay into a policy before you get anything back   but if you can find someone who will, then him doing it and putting you as the benificiary would prob be best.

well....In my experience, no sense worring about things you have no control over. Hes got to stop and he needs to stop worring you.

Insurance is not going to happen if he has all this going on.

Life insurance is complicated. It requires a physical exam, it requires honest answers and time to process and look into your health and past histories. It won't happen overnight or even in a week or two sometimes it can take a month or more. And if he were to die within the first 2 years they can and likely will look for any reason to believe he lied on the application and refuse to pay.
