Getting rid of my first babys

posted 8th Sep '12
My dogs Marley && Mia... we will be moving into our new place on friday and we currently hand two dogs Marley and Mia a pit and rott mix..... they are both the BIGGEST babys i have even seen! my pit bull even nursed my kitten when we found the little guy outside in the rain when he was about 2-3 weeks old. but since were getting a comptly reavated home.. and with a baby on they way we think it might be the best option.. Marley runs off if she gets the chance (she thinks its a game) and Mia chews (shes still not even a year though). im so sad i been crying bout it all day..

Then work hard on training them instead of getting rid of them?

Wow I couldn't get rid of the dogs for no reason. Sorry. I hope you can rehome them and not give them to a shelter

I hate this. You find a way to make it work. The world is such a scary place out there for pets, the depend on their owners to keep them safe and taken care of.

Have you found good families for them yet? Or are you still looking.

I'm so sorry, I know that losing a pet is a hard thing. I'm so sorry.

know and marley is my BABY! i mean she litterallythink she a human haha we would have to split them up... SO cousin would take Mia and my mom has a good friend from HS who has a few pits already he said one other time he would take her when we got in trouble with her at our apt( we wernt posta have her breed) but we got away with it till our lease was up.. so they would both go to good homs with yard and other dogs.. it just breaks my heart to have to do it...

So don't give them away? I don't understand why you cannot keep them. You say they are like family. Do you get rid of family when you move to a new place or have a baby?

I couldn't even imagine giving up my fur-babies. I've had all of them since they were between 7-8wks old, I'm all they've known. I have had to re-home in the past (health problems made it impossible to give my larger dog the attention and exercise he needed), so I understand if it's something serious, but a runner and a chewer are pretty mild. My parents (my 3 dogs, cat, bird, DD and I are all in their house) have a pekingese that's a runner. The second the door is open that little cinder block takes off and he's almost impossible to catch. They'd never give him up over that though, we just put in a fence in the back and they take him for walks and make sure all doors are secure so he can't escape often. Their terrier is a chewer, too many remotes meet her fuzzy mouth. We just learned that a lot of things she would go for could be put in drawers or moved to higher spots and if we catch her she gets reprimanded. She's quit sneaking things once we bought her a bunch of toys to play with that can handle a good chewing. In total we have 6 dogs in a 3br house. It may be chaos and sometimes we wanna just give up on them, but there aren't many people out there who will care for a pet that's used to a certain training method or handling.

Don't make her feel worse for doing what she feels is right or she has to do... It's not an easy choice to make.

Well if one of them is less than a year old, you knew dogs were hard work.

Look at your options, if there is a way you can keep them and maybe even find a pro to train them then go for it... but if you are sure that you have no choice, then do what is best for your family and for them (good homes, not a shelter).

Just make sure they go to good homes with people who can care for them. Not shelters
