Quoting 5 blessings so far....:" next time just say quite loudly, '' it's nice that you werent blessed w/ a specail needs child, cause you obviously werent graced w/the patients to deal w/it!""

this exactly! Momma don't feel bad your not ashamed of the child you were made to feel shamed big difference. I have no special needs children but mine still screamed and went on , threw temper tantrums in public or have gotten sick in public . It's life and it happens . All you can do is handle the situation best you can and remember.. if other people are judging you they are leaving someone else alone.

Quoting mama3trish:" It makes you human, we forget that we are people too, not just parents. This may sound mean, but we laugh. ... [snip!] ... in every situation, but when we are stuck in negative it is hard to get out. Hang in there mama-ever need to vent I am here."

You are SO smurfing right, too. Thank you for your perspective. That kind of helps me a lot. We laugh sometimes, but we just aren't completely there yet. We're still in the "acceptance" phase. and he could grow out of the delays, but I hate that it is hard NOW. ya know? he's struggling NOW, and its hard to see....two hours in to the future, when he's going to be sweet, and say something completely unexpected. Today he said "come, mommy, bed." O.o Its the longest sentence he's put together thus far, and its just amazing to watch him learn. I have to look more at those moments.

I'm happy that you get it, and always happy to help.

If I were you, I would've said 'I'm sorry if my son is bothering you, he has developmental problems.' and left it at that, it usually stops the sighs immediately and people just feel like smurfs.
