So many reasons. 1) People taking loans they cannot afford 2) lender giving said loan that they shouldn't give 3) Appriasers inflating properties
A little predatory lending, but for the most part WE are responsible for the crash.
I predicted it before it happened. I knew things were about to crash & sure enough they did about 8 months later.

This is not to say that people didn't go crazy, buying what they couldn't afford, but when it takes, on average, 20 THOUSAND pieces of paperwork to buy a home...what average person couldn't easily be duped by that, KWIM?
