I still don't think Mitt Romney will help this country at all. Regardless of who came after Bush, the unemployment rates weren't going to improve. In recessions, it usually gets worse before it gets better...or are you not familiar with history?

By all means, educate us on what happened when Reagan inherited Jimmy Carter's dismal economy.

Of course unemployment being down is a farce. What's down is the benefits they're paying out because people are still out of jobs, just out of benefits also. And I don't want to hear anything about Obama being shut down by a republican congress when he had the democrat majority for two years at the beginning of his term. And he proved that by going against 85% of Americans who said they liked their current healthcare system and implementing this Obamacare monstrosity that throws in a few shiny essentials that ARE good for the people to distract you from the underlying issues with the whole thing. If Obama had our country's well being in mind when he took office, he would've spent those two years getting bill passed that the people actually wanted instead of implying that we really don't know WHAT we want and he'll let us know what it is we really want.

I don't know how people can turn such a blind eye to how this man not only failed to keep the promises that he made to the American people but made them even worse. He himself said that if he could not fix these things, he should be a one term president. Keep the man true to his word. Vote him out of office. Because if you keep him in to further ruin us for four more years, he WILL be in a position to declare a state of emergency and suddenly he doesn't NEED Congress as he becomes supreme ruler and whatever he says goes.

Low paying jobs...yeah...really helps pay mortgage and keep families off the streets!

Oh, you mean exactly what happened the last 4 years? Link

Reagan inherited 12.4% inflation rate, double digit unemployment and 21% interest rates. He created 20 million new jobs and in his 8 years, government receipts doubled.

History repeats itself. Thanks for making my point.

No matter who wins, the economic situation is going to take a lot of work to see improvements. It's not gonna be some magic January 1 change like everyone assumes.

That doesn't even make sense.

Tell me which policies Obama implemented that were even remotely similar to Reagan.

Pretty much.

One thing I love about Obama's speech yesterday is that he admitted that he didn't have a quick fix. FDR, the only other president have a recession comparable to today's, had the war to "bail him out" and stimulate the economy.

Regardless of who becomes president, it is going to take more than another four years to get the economy back to pre-Bush years.

Well maybe Obama should've focused on passing the jobs act in the first two years when unemployment was at its highest and he had the congress majority. There's a novel ideal.

I thought my comment was pretty clear. History repeated itself in the sense that it (unemployment rates) became worse in both their terms and low paying jobs are the major increases in employment.

Unemployment didn't get worse under Reagan. It went from 13% to 5%.
