contact your school district. They have to provide you with all the materials the other students get, if you choose a charter/online school it's different

It may depend on the state, but usually anyone can homeschool. You should look up your state laws. It's not for me just because I don't feel I could teach our children everything schools would teach her. I am terrible at math for example. We will be teaching our kids things while they are in school though, we are lucky to have such great public schools here.

I don't know what unschooling is... but I home schooled through the pace system. I had to take tests under the supervision of a certified teacher, but most my work was done at home, by myself, no issues.

Depends on your state. I *think* California is trying to get it that way. But yes look up homeschooling laws and such in your area. There's a group called HSLDA (home school legal defense alliance or something like that) it will help with your state laws.

Our public schools are smurf where I'm form. Teachers banging students and I was verbally abused by teachers on multiple occasions. Thats why we want to homeschool.

Yeah I can understand that. Personally it's just not something I feel comfortable doing. I do actually know a couple people who were home schooled and are very intelligent and social people, but their mom was a teacher lol. We just happen to live in a good area, our schools still have art and science.

Do u know about charter online schools?? My sons just started catholic school, and academically he's doing awesome but he's having issues fitting in and the teachers have been a nightmare to deal with, I just don't think this school is a good fit for him

I was home schooled for a year in high school... I ended up graduating at 16 because of it. I was able to do things at my own pace; I flew through the boring crap and could take my time on subjects that I enjoyed... I loved it.

My brother never would have survived homeschooling.... he would have done a horrible job, he needed to be taught in a classroom, by a teacher and have other students around him.

I honestly believe, it depends on the student more so than the parent.

Yeah that's true too a child's personality can make a difference. I'm one of thsoe who could never do online schooling, I need to be in a classroom to hold myself accountable. I do think parents can effect it too since you may have some who don't do the actual work involved. There are so many different variables to it.

PS: May I PT you ? I see you all the time and we seem to have similar views.

well in PA they have a ton of online charter schools. My husband is a public school teacher but also teaches several online courses for our local IU. I think for a charter school you have to pay but if you're already paying for private school you're used to that. Maybe just do an internet search for your state and see what comes up

PTed you back.

Lots of things factor in, no doubt. I'm an actual school teacher. I've been a teacher for 10 years... Novali cannot be home-schooled. She doesn't like to learn at home, she likes to be in a class. If this changes as she ages I may home school her.

It depends on the child, the parent, the work load, the ages, and even the program you use.

Thank you

I actually went to college to become a teacher, just never became a teacher lol. Still got a nice degree for a backup plan. Yeah there are a lot of things that it can depend on, so it's really up to each individual situation.
