do contractions feel anything like an abortion?

posted 5th Sep
i'm planning on having a natural childbirth.. i recently had my midwife check me for dilation and when she stuck her fingers in there and touched my cervix it hurt soo bad, it felt like it did when i had an abortion. like a strong deep cramping/burning pain. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if that's what labor is going to feel like? similar to abortion pain? or do abortions hurt worse?

Post this somewhere else. You are not having an abortion.

Early abortions do not typically hurt. The paint felt is similar to menstrual cramps.

Why do you ask?

I'm.... fairly certain that labor is worse than that.

But. I guess wait and see---- and what the above poster said. This is not the place for this question.

But it is about having had an abortion. I don't see why it's not ok for this board...

I dont know for sure but I would imagine the feeling would be similar.

where else should she post, though? if she put it in pregnancy issues, she'd be told to go to abortion survivors....

anyway, my two cents. childbirth contractions are worse. just my experience.

Hvdeing your cervix smurfed with hurts all the same, if that answers your Q.

That deep OMG kuck-a-mucka feeling.

Not sure about the forum....but find it extremely 'odd' to compare the two.

I was thinking maybe she had an abortion previously and wants to know if the pain she felt then will be similar to the pain she will feel during labor.

For me contractions felt like I was being ripped apart from the inside of my stomach, I don't remember "pain" when I was being checked.

i had an abortion at 9 weeks a few years ago and the pain was horrible. i was just wondering if that's the same pain felt when in labor.. i guess this is a hard question to answer because i can't fully describe the pain.

Did you have an infection? What kind of abortion was it? They shouldn't have hurt you that badly. Most of the time with early abortions you're good to go to work the very next day.

i had one at 7 weeks. i don't remember it being extremely painful, but they had given me something in advance for the pain. when i was in labor with my daughter (before getting the epidural), it hurt like absolute hell. so... idk if the abortion would have been that painful had i not had drugs... not sure if that helps in answering your question. but labor is painful, no matter what, without drugs.

And often with drugs, too. Of whatever variety.
