1 year since we lost him...

posted 5th Sep
We want to do something special for us (me, DH, and DS) to celebrate and remember Deagan on his birthday next month.

We're not into balloon releases (pollution, folks!), but are pretty open to ideas that we can take and make our own.

Butterfly release? Maybe light candles or have a small family dinner with a tiny cake to celebrate his angelvirsary (sorry for the misspelling. Hope I didn't offend with my ideas, sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for you loss. I too lost my first. I like to do something for someone with special needs in honor of his birthday. We have a party and we invite a child with special needs over or take them and their family out and do something awesome with them. Perhaps you could do something for a foster child or other needy child . The best way to honor our children's memory I think is to do something good... and share the love and joy they brought to our lives. I'm again so, so sorry for you loss.

Very sorry for your loss. How about lighting those ecofriendly lanterns into the air.

I am all for the butterfly release!!! We had one at our wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL. Butterfly's are a symbol of new life. How fitting for a memorial of that beautiful Angel!

We're not ready to involve others. And we want it to be very much about him.

Butterfly release sounds nice. Maybe I can find them around here... Where would I buy them?

I'll see if hey'd survive an October release and we'll do it if they will. Anything else? I want to fill most of the day so we don't sit home and dwell!

I found a few links you can look into. Don't know your price range and I really didn't look into the links too much but they seem like legit and good companies.

http://www.butterflyreleasecompany.com/
http://www.butterfliesetc.com/ I guess there are also rules according to this website so you may want into look your state laws on things like this. http://www.butterfliesetc.com/wedding-butterflies-for-release/usda-etc
http://mrbutterflies.com/
http://www.butterflyreleases.com/
http://www.butterflyworkx.com/butterflies-for-release.html
I found all of those by just googling buying butterflies for release.

Maybe make something in his memory for you all? A necklace or bracelet, one for each of you, I'd bet his brother would like that. Buy some beads at hobby lobby. Maybe at a park so you can all have a picnic and also hopefully a butterfly release with the cake.

Im so sorry for your loss. I lost my daughter at 37 weeks two years ago. We light her a candle and I like to visit her "bridge" and watch the sunset and give a little prayer. Now that we have a LO i think ill start baking a cake on her birthday. :/
