It's gonna cost about $125 for butterflies minimum. ($7 per, plus overnight shipping...minimum 12 or 24 depending on site used. ) cost isn't super awful if it were something lasting, but just to release butterflies when I can buy eggs and raise them myself for a few bucks---just can't release in October...
October is a bit of an issue--- most butterflies start their migration in September and I don't want to release them if they can't survive :/ the weather here is warm, but that might not last 6 more weeks (longer to give them time to make the trip too)...

I like the bracelet idea.

I certainly understand not being ready to involve other ppl. I really like what Ann Dee did (not sure if you know her but she's in my PT, Aliyah's Mama).
She had an actually birthday party, cake and all. Instead of gifts though she requested that guests bring a children's book for a book drive and she donated them to a local hospital.
Maybe something like that (book drive...not the party) would be nice to do in Deagan's honor. ♥

Ah I'm happy your so thoughtful I've never seen someone so caring, maybe candles instead or battery lights? Maybe arrange them in his name and take a beautiful family picture at sunset.

This idea could be cute on the beach with votives, do it every year great way to watch the family grow. I'll be happy to play photog for you. I really cant believe it's been a year since I met the most perfect tiny person ever.
The jewlery making is a cute idea too. Or you could go to Color Me Mine. I don't you aren't ready to think about it yet but they did have some sealable figures Ax could paint for his brother.
I really wish I had better ideas other then doing something fun as a family to keep yourself busy and honoring his memory.
I'm keeping the evening of his birthday open, so let me know if you need anything or fancy my company.. I am completely ok either way I figure it will depend on what you decide to do.
