abortion laws in uk should they change?

posted 20th May
MPs are currently debating whether to cut the 24 week upper limit for abortions to 20 weeks or less.

what is ur opinion on this? should it be cut to 20weeks?

i think it should be cut to at least 16weeks

I agree. If you haven't decided whether you want the baby by that point, that's just messed up. At 24 weeks, some babies are even able to survive if their mother's delivered early, so it's just wrong to abort them.

i agree with your answer.

I don't think there should be any cutoff, personally.

I think that if abortion is to stay legal that mother's should be able to live up to the phrase "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it"

ur both exactly right. i saw a program on abortion a couple of days ago 1 lady had had 4 abortions in the last 10 years! i was outraged at that and another girl terminated right on the 24 week limit, even tho she had known for weeks that she was pregnant and didnt wana keep it i cried so much.

and when the doctor showed how the process was done, it broke my heart. i dont know how ANYONE could go through that.

I don't like the thought of late term abortion, but it's not my choice as to what someone else does...
I don't know where that leaves me.

I agree that it should be 20 weeks because after 22 weeks that baby has a chance of surviving, but I don't think the cut off should be any earlier because a lot of people don't know they're pregnant until 12 weeks, some people it's even later, plus you have to wait for blood results to come back at about 20 weeks if you decide to opt for the TST, and although a lot of people would choose to keep their babies no matter what, to put it bluntly, there are a lot more people who choose to have an abortion, I don't think we should take away the womans right to have an abortion, however i do think that all abortions should be done before the baby has a chance of survival, as cruel as that sounds.

I'm very torn on this issue. I used to be vehemently pro-choice. Now after being pregnant, I could never imagine  aborting a baby, especially one that is viable outside the womb. But I do agree with the fact that it's difficult to place a cut-off--like who draws the line?? And once the lines are drawn, there can be many arguments made that they are arbitrary. I suppose I still feel like it's a woman's choice, I just wish that so many women didn't feel like it was their ONLY choice.

No it wasn't the question, but it's her opinion that she doesn't think that abortions should be legal anyways. It still on topic but towards the outer edge lol.
