starting a running program tomorrow

posted 20th May
Do we have any avid runners in here?
There are several sites w/ tips on going from couch to 5K in about 6-8 weeks. I think it deff sounds doable and I can do more freely once my man is back to watch the boy while I run.

It's been 9 months since my c-section and I'm still afraid to run.

I just wanted to say that your avatar picture is freaky.

I would love to start running again, but those jogging strollers are so damn expensive.

I was bored and thought I'd mix it up w/a lil Leno action.

This Monday is my son's first Birfday and will have been one year since my cesarean. Really, it's okay. I was back playing soccer again 10 weeks after I had him

not to sound cliche'-- but nike got it right w/ their old school slogan: just do it.

i run pretty much every day and have been for uhhh four years or so (minus the first three weeks of post partum recovery), even did a triathlon two summers ago -- and felt like a badass for the following year.

anyway, there are times i'm lacing up my running shoes and bitching about it as i go, b/c i just don't want to -- but i'm an endorphin junkie so i know that i'll hit the high at some point and so i run anyway -- no matter what.

back in the day, when i was a less experienced runner, i would let my tough runs get to me mentally and it would be much harder to face the next day's run...

but the minute you dig in and do it anyway, you start to feel stronger, and in feeling stronger you enjoy the run more and then you come back feeling like a hard core bad ass... especially when it's raining cats and dogs or cold as a witch's tit (nice expression).

running is a cheap/easy way to find your inner badass-- so long as you don't give up b/c it aches a bit here or the weather isn't just so.

also-- i have myself one of those little ipod shuffle things and a lot of hardcore dance beats (layered over some pretty zen like stuff).

personally, the sound track is a HUGE part of getting me through runs b/c i can just zone out on the beats and the music when i'm not quite into the zen of my muscle ache/boredom/whathaveyou

some of the stuff i've got on my playlist:

nelly furtado: forca, explode
some robert miles (children, rain, etc-- he's great for running music, b/c he layers beats and increases their speed so you always are adding energy)
greenday: amreican idiot, holiday
goldfrapp: oh lalala
faithless : insomnia
db boulevard: point of view
moloko: sing it back
808 state : specifci state
kosheen : hide you
dwight yokum : fast as you can
some stuff from the goa tribes
garbage : sex never goes out of fashion
paul simon : graceland
nina simone : sinner man
the verve : bittersweet symphony
weekend players : into the sun
stone roses : waterfall
In Grid : Tu Ma Promis/ In Tango
lemon jelly : ramblin man
puretone : totally addicted to base
(i had my ipod hooked up to the computer -- hence me being able to see what's what ... my memory is not that great all on it's own).

hmm, thx for the tunes list. I may have to pull a few from ya.
I wish I could start right now, but it's 2340 and I'm headed off to bed. I am gonna stop by the gym tomorrow and head to the 'mommy' room. It's my only option for now. I let a friend borrow my jogger so....yep, lloks like Zakky's gonna have to chill w/ other tikes.
Thanks for the boost too

Bad knees. Sounds great though. I walk with my jogging stroller! Smooth ride for two kids!
