Baby Showers?

posted 4th Sep
Is it true you shouldn't have a baby shower for a 2nd child? Im having my 2nd child in March and my son is almost 2years old. My sister is also having a child in march, she is on her 3rd child and having a baby shower....but it's been 9years since her last one. I was told I couldn't have one since I had one with my first? But she had one with all of hers.

My family only does one for the first child. Everyone is different. Mine considers it rude.

I ahve had a shower with all my kids. I am due with my 4th and my family is planning another one. However, it is not going to be held until after baby is here and it was the same with the others. Just the way it is done here.

I've been wondering this, too... my family does showers with all babies. I'd never heard of not doing them after the first.

A lot of people dont but I did. Everyone I know does. In my case, I have 2 girls, I had everything I needed cuz we saved it form the 1st baby. So the 2nd we had a diaper shower

We just like to get together to celebrate the pregnancy and baby. No matter what number baby it is.

I have heard that it is considered rude to do it after the 1st child? I myself do not feel that way. I think if you want a baby shower you should have one. But I also don't want family talking bad about me wanting to have another shower. Even if it's a welcoming home party or something.

i had one with my son but my family was never invited, it was all SO's family. so now with my baby girl my mother is over joyed to plan one with my family and friends. i think if i had all off my family and friends at the first i wouldnt be having another but thts only because i feel weird about having 2 when my kids are only 15 months apart, even with them being different genders

Who cares what they think? Do it anyway if thats what you want   They dont have to go if they dont want to. Its a special occasion for you. ENJOY it   Make it close friends and family

I think if someone is willing to throw you a shower for your 2nd lil one then go for it! I am throwing one for my SIL who is on #2, it will be small but we still want to celebrate her and her little boy.

I didn't have one with Ben and my two kids are over 8 years apart.. You could just have a small get together.. The main reason for a baby shower is gifts.. that may be why people think it's rude. Maybe they think you only want one for free gifts? In my family, we only throw one for the firstborn also, unless they are very far apart in age. However I still didn't have one with Ben so.. lol
