Cancer won again. :(

Cancer stole another amazing individual person.  

I woke up this morning and started checking FB and realized quite quickly that my friend Tootie had passed.   He was diagnosed my senior year of high school with leukemia. I'd been in classes with him since the 7th grade. He was awesome. Always cutting up and making people laugh. ALWAYS had a smile on his face.

He started getting sick our senior year and found out. He was gone a lot of course because of treatments. When he was finally able to come back the guys in our class shaved their heads for him. (We were a tiny school and all really close.) Also at prom Bryant won king. He refused to take the crown and gave it to Tootie. We actually got in trouble at Prom because we refused to do our senior walk until Tootie got there.

Tootie was amazing. He fought for so long. And cancer finally took control.   I'm sad that he's passed, but glad that he's not in pain anymore. Nobody deserves that.

So Tootie, I know you're up there. And feeling better than you have in years. Watch over us buddy, okay? We'll miss you and think fondly of you. Maybe now you'll pass Chemistry.

That's Bryant behind Tootie. Bryant stayed by him most the night to make sure he was okay. He was getting a lot weaker by this time. Chemo had just started not long before that.

He looked so happy in the first picture. You would never think he was fighting a cancer battle.

He'd just come from the hospital. If you look you can see the iv bruising and his bracelets.   He fought with the nurses to come.

Now I see. That is so sad but I'm glad he made it to prom. RIP fella. You're in a much better place.
