How to get your autistic child to sleep?

posted 4th Sep
Because clearly what I've been doing doesn't work. It's 1:11am and he has school tomorrow. He's still awake. Trying to be sneaky and get on his lap top. He hasn't slept in his own bed for about a month or maybe two now. Been sleeping on the couch. I'm at my wits end right now. It's so hard for me to sleep at night when I get him to bed because I'm worked up after fighting with him most of the night. I gave him a shower, washed his hair, and brushed his teeth at 8:30pm and made him lay down around 9:30pm. I know letting him watch television isn't helping but if I turn it off all hell is going to start. What do you do? I don't even know if I should try to send him to school tomorrow but he only went one day last week due to being sick. Ugh, I swear my night keeps getting better and better.

I was told to use melatonin but I can only find the pills not the drops.   He's never taken a pill so I don't know if I'll be able to get him to take it.

My mom uses melatonin for my little brother too, before he could swallow pills by himself she would crush it up and have him eat it in a sammich before bed.

Sounds strange but weight. Weighted blankets will help him sleep its a pressure thing. You have to get the right amount of weight for his weight but u can Google it. Also play burrito before bed. Take a blanket roll him tight lay with a little pressure on him and roll and unroll him for like 15 minutes
