Finding the "Others"

posted 3rd Sep '12
Have any other teen or young moms had issues with finding others in your situation or similar? I feel like in my area I am the only young mom out there! I'm not shy about it either, if I see another relatively young mommy you better believe I'm trying to strike a conversation.

I had my daughter at 17 and feel relatively mature for my age therefore I don't mind having mom friends that are 5 years or more older than me but having an ally where I don't have to not mention BD problems, financial problems, or allowing others to know that it IS really hard to juggle being a FT attached parent, full time student, work 30 hours a week, and maintain a home and not to mention a new relationship!

Anybody else have difficulty finding the other teen/young moms in your area?

You can move to my town and you'll have plenty of teen moms to relate to

Oh, and just my personal preference (I had LO at 19), I prefer older moms. Maybe that's just because all the young moms in my area are immature twats, and I like taking care of my kid instead of pushing her off on MY parents. Don't limit yourself to making friends with teen moms. If you're mature for your age, you shouldn't have problems befriending older ladies.

I don't have problems befriending older ladies and often forget that I'm only 21 but you're right- all the teen moms I've met definitely aren't going the route I would choose. I've ben thinking a lot about starting some sort of program in this area for teen moms to meetup.

Maybe you could. Go to the high school and set up a support group or something. I'm not sure if they would already have one or something. Start a facebook page, but it would be much more helpful if you had some younger moms to invite to it first.
