california child support

i have never received a penny in child support, and right now my ex has to pay nothing and not even any back pay because he hasnt worked for who knows how long. he has missed the last 3 court dates and there will be no more until he actually gets a job. just last night i heard he might possibly be moving out of state....if he does leave california, what will happen?

Your screwed LOL...Cali is so much in the hole and jails packed they wont touch him. My friends ex is behind 200K!! Yes 200K!! qnd they wont touch him..sorry

hmm... WELL, i dont know if this helps or what, but when I was in court, the people before me, the judge told the guy if he didnt get a job that he'd revoke his rights until he did. Which i didnt know they'd do.. Plus, he was suppose to be attending a job finding workshop or something.
I'd assume if he moved that when he got a job Child support would go after him??

The state will still go after him for child support. My sis is out in Cali and her ex in Arkansas and the states worked together to get child support for her. They can and will tag his SS# if need be.

oh i know they wont touch him! i wish he would owe something though!! i think he is getting off to easy....he could at least owe something

they mentioned doing the job workshop too, but then the judge didnt do it for some reason, i wish they would revoke his rights!!! i left him when my daughter was 3 months old and that was the last time he has seen her....he has never called or anything and she is 28 months old already

thats cool, how do they do the court hearings then?

For hearings dealing with interstate, you'd have to at least go thru a paralegal (cheaper than attorney however just as effective) you would represent yourself in court though. The paralegal will explain the proceedings to you. I know the states (California and Arkansas) went as far as taking part of his unemployment checks for child support too. He started the pattern of working a job til they started garnishing his wages for child support then get injured or something end up jobless and file for unemployment. Once the pattern was spotted, unemployment started be garnished.
