Are child support calculators fairly accurate?

Due to Hawaii law we have to be legally separated for a year before we can be divorced so I would be unable to receive CS until then. Well, I was planning on writing up and having a document notarized saying he would pay X amount until it is so determined by the court after the divorce. The amount I found seemed like A LOT though. Based on his income, my income, her needs, the area, etc it came out to around $700 a month for one child. Does this seem accurate?

my friend according to Hawaii CS law the judge ordered him to pay 900 a month for one child. He made more there than he does here.

The calculator was WAY off for DH. It said he should pay about $400 but he only was ordered to pay $254

Well, I'm moving back to Nashville soon so I calculated it for there. He makes $3400 or so a month so $700 just seemed like a lot to me.

The calculator was way off for me. Mine said he would have to pay $100 and he's ordered to pay $280.

Ugh, this is all confusing. I'm trying to be fair but I don't want him NOT helping support Laura because he blew all his money on stupid smurf like the car. That's why I'm trying to figure up an amount, that way once it's signed and official if he doesn't pay I can take it to his chain of command.

going off of 20% it is $680 so no that really isn't alot.

700 doesnt sound outrageous...but what is your percentage of custody vs. his?

I guess it just seems like a lot because of how I'm looking at it. We couldn't fit that into our budget right now but when I move home he won't have a big grocery bill, be paying my phone bill, etc. Guess I just need to put it in perspective.

His custody is pretty much nonexistent. I told him I would have joint custody but he wouldn't get any physical custody until he agreed to seek treatment for his PTSD/tbi/ and anger/anxiety issues. Not to mention, I'll be in TN and he will be in Hawaii for at least another 6 months or so (which he has agreed is ok, I'm not just taking off with her).

That honestly sounds like a fair amount. You are actually probably letting him off easy, deff. not taking advantage of him.
Our arrangement is based off of a 70(me)/30(him) split.

Since he's in the Army he receives BAH to take care of his dependents, even if you two get divorced, his daughter will still make him get BAH. So the military is paying for his child, not really him.

move back 2 nashville live here at 1 address for 30 dayys then file for your divorce btw in TN your child support is honestly going to depend on your judge and mood he is in. i finally got cs assigned a few weeks ago and all they are making my sons father pay is $88.00 a MONTH. Because he quit a job making $1500 a week and got a job at a grocery store making minimum wage!!!! im pissed so make sure you haave a good lawyer when you go.
