Random question, but desperately need help.

So we have a fruit fly infestation in our house. It's soo gross. I have no fruit in the house anymore, no food laying out, and they STILL are swarming in my kitchen...and when I say swarming, I mean there are clouds of fruit flies. PLEASE help. My daughter hates bugs, and I dont even want to be in my house at this point. I have tried every red wine, dish soap and water, vinegar, rotten fruit trick, windex...none of these are working. It doesn't even seem like they're interested in food. They just hang out in my sink and on the walls.

Do you have a garbage disposal? They might be breeding in there.

get a couple fly strips and hang them from the ceiling and see if that helps any. Garbage disposal like ^^^^^ she said? I'd clean your sinks with slightly diluted bleach to kill anything thats in there including rotten food.

have noticed, for the sink problem, that putting bleach in your drains works. and spraying anything around the sink with bleach cleaner works. for the garbage, put a fly catching strip above it.

i have the same problem, but because my MIL's stepson is a nasty individual. and doesnt keep his room clean, so we get nats flies, and all sorts of things. so i too take alot of precautions when it comes to this.

good luck

We get all kinds of bugs here in TX. Couple months ago we had swarmssssss of fruit flies. We can't keep trash in the kitchen because they will come back. We got fly paper and stuck them up and we got watermelon and after we cut it up we placed it on a cookie sheet and left the oven slightly open for a few days. The flies went in there, we shut the door fast and put it on broil and then threw the watermelon rein out after. It worked.

you can use your oven. Just leave it open over night with fruit on a cookie sheet, they will all go in there, fruit is what they're after.

I ended up just using Raid, and then cleaning up the bugs and stuff afterwards. There are still some bugs lingering, but its nowhere as bad as it was.   Thanks everyone
