Too Much Weight Gain???

posted 20th May
okay so this has been bothering me a lot lately...my original doctor quit not too long ago so they had to rush to give me another doctor in the office so they gave me a female doctor....which was fine i would have preferred a male butits fine that shes my temporary doctor....but anywho.. she said i have gained way way way too much weight i have gained 45 lbs but im only 33 weeks...she told me that i need to lose some of the weight that i have gained since in the last few weeks i will be gaining a pound a week because when the baby is born it will be harder for me to lose the baby weight... but im not really planning on going back to my pre pregnancy weight which was 127 lbs.....i would rather be at 135...i dunno i dont really know if its a problem im just sorta kinda venting and getting it all out of my head cause its really bothering me lol....

That was a stupid thing for her to say!!!

I wouldn't worry. I know a girl who gained 75 lbs!! Just make sure that the weight you are gaining is not from crap food and you should be fine. Next time tell her that unless you are gaining weight at a rapid rate that will cause you and the baby harm she can keep her rude comments to herself. Her job is to make sure that your blood pressure is good, you don't have signs of preeclampsia and your baby is growing at a healthy rate without problems.

You are fine! Keep being healthy for your baby!!

You know what screw her and what she thinks. I gained 40 with each. It sucks. But you have to deal with it later on.

I have NEVER heard a doctor telling someone that they needed to lose weight while pregnant. That is just so unhealthy. Maybe saying that you shouldn't gain any more weight would be the better way to go about it. You gain what you need to, as long as you are being somewhat healthy and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

I can't believe she'd say that! It is never okay to try and lose weight while pregnant. If it happens a couple pounds here and there then it does so naturally but "trying" to lose weight can be harmful to your baby! Don't worry hun you don't sound like you were overweight in the slightest and I'm sure another doc would tell you that you are doing just fine   I've heard that the actual average weight gain for any pregnant woman is about 40-50lbs. So not only is that the average, but it's the average for even most ladies who started off a few pounds heavier than needed. You look beautiful, don't try to lose the weight...it could do more harm than good.

Just don't diet while you are pregnant. Your baby needs all you are able to supply. Worry about it after you have a happy healthy baby in your arms.

What a stupid Bitch. You know, you can report her for things like that. There is a code of ethics that medical professionals must adhear to. Plus if you put it on the office's website about her bedside manner it will really chap her ass and open eyes of future patients.

it depends on what you weigh pre preg... I was 228lbs before pregnancy and I ate incredibly sensibly and weighed 227lbs when I gave birth,
I got on the scales 3 days later and i had dropped to 207lbs...
I realise I am a plus sized mum, but my mother was the same, she lost weight throughout her pregnancies too...It could be genetic...I too like mum have had no morning sickness with either pregnancy...
this time I was 224lbs pre preg weight and am 229lbs now at 39 weeks...
I am healthy and happy and have absolutely no problems.
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT and their bodies handle pregnancies differently too..and often each pregnancy is different too.
Dont stress...... I think she is putting too much pressure on you..If you are healthy, she should be happy with that... Gosh, its not like you are a whale!

Well, I have a female doctor also and a few months ago after I gained 8 pounds and then 11 pounds between two appointments, she told me to slow it down, that I was gaining too much. My feelings were hurt at first and I was really sad about it. But, I did slow it down and I began to "watch" what I was eating...you know, fast food, fried food, etc., and I only gained 3 pounds the next time and didn't gain any the next. But, I'm 32 weeks today and I know I've gained about 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks! I'm scared about what she's gonna say at my appointment on Thursday!! EEEK.

Im sure that you will be fine...the only concern would be if it was effecting your health and it doesnt seem to be from your info here...
My hospital has a body mass index limit of 40 and I am not allowed to gain any more than another 2lbs or I am not permitted to give birth in the same hosp where I had my 1st. But I can do it...I just have to be very sensible.
Stupid insurance rules.....almost feel like they are saying fat chicks cant even have babies the right way...
the nurses there are fantasic, its just the admin rules that suck..

Well then thats all that matters!
pregnancy is temporary..(I must remind myself of that if I go over this time)
the weight gain can also be temporary, but more importantly... this DR is also temporary.... Let her have her moment of importance and position of advising authority.... and leave her office wondering...how many kids she has.... none I bet.

I personally have gained about 25lbs give or take. I would have gained more I am convinced if I wasn't expecting twins and had more tummy room! That and if I could hold downall my food. LOL

You look great and I think she is just talking out her ass.
