baby monitors

posted 31st Aug
Any of you have the baby monitors with the video cameras on them? Or the ones that alert you if the baby might have stopped moving or breathing?

Or is it better to just go with a basic monitor? I had such a smurffy baby monitor last time. LO sounded like a robot, I could never tell if she was actually awake or just restlessly sleeping... plus it picked up a Bollywood radio station and would very subtly play music all damn night lol

In hoping to get a video moniter soon. The family that I nanny for has one and it is a life saver. The baby plays in the crib for awhile or just moans before he goes to sleep. It's great that I can watch him and see that he really doesn't need me and i dont have to go in there and stir things up.

I had one of those Angel care monitors that a friend gave me when my dd was diagnosed with GERD since she would just spontaneously stop breathing, it never needed to go off on her behalf because she was never in her crib when she's stop but it certainly gave me peace of mind.

those say it will alarm you within 20 seconds of the baby not moving... doesn't that sound like it would go off alot? or is that like chest movement? Theres one on CL that I'm just looking at..

I didn't fine that it went off a lot and my friend only had it go off once because her dd squirmed off of it.

angel care was amazing for us. It only went off if our son would roll to the very end of the bed but even then it didnt often. We actually used it with both kids until they were over two because they would get out of bed and not wake us up and get into trouble. So the alarm would go off and wede know they were out of bed haha. Im not positive but i thought i saw one that does both video and monitor breathing?!? im probably dreaming though. But id go with angel care every time..it puts us at ease and we sleep much better knowing if they stopped breathing, wede find out.

We have the Summer Infant touch/color video monitor. I LOVE it. DH researched & bought it, he got an amazing deal at Babies R Us [$133]. We keep it up high on a shelf and can pan the whole room at the touch of the screen! We can also talk/sing back to her. Even at night in a very dark room, you still get a good image!

Those friends that you told me know up here, I don't supposed you'll be seeing either of them by the time you have your baby? I'm only wondering because I'm giving away my angel care monitor (a friend gave it to me and she wants to just pass it along to another mom) and thought if one of your friends was heading home for a visit or something then I could send my monitor with them.

My husband is kind of a techy so we had to get a good baby monitor cause he wouldn't stand to get a cheap one. We looked around for a while and we didn't want to spend a million bucks, and we found this website. They were still a bit more than what we wanted to spend but we figured we'd be able to keep it forever. Here's the site, we got the samsung, hope it helps!
