Autistic children

I am desperate. I am going crazy. My daughter is 2 and a half. I love her dearly, but I am at my wit's end.

My daughter does not talk, does not play right, barely listens...

I need support.

Anyone have advice for me?

Is she in classes to help her with her autism? If you get her in "school" and in with early intervention it will greatly help with her autism.

She has a speech therapist and someone who is supposed to come but does not. Earlier I saw a commercial about this place here in my city where you take the in for appointments and they take medicaid so I'm guessing it's autism therapy and such. She is not in classes yet, but they said they won't take her into head start until she is 3. I just am trying to figure out the best for my daughter, it's just so troubling because I can't do this alone anymore. I need a professional's help and I hate 'giving up' but I have to do what is best for her.

I would look into that program. I am going into special education as an autism specialist. I am in my 4th year of a 5 year bachelors/masters program and the key to autism is the earlier the intervention the better. Also, you could talk to your pedi about maybe a play group or a support group for parents. They typically have these references. It is very difficult but once you find an outlet it will get easier!

I definitely want to extend. Her pedi says "Oh no she doesn't have it." The speech therapist thinks otherwise. I'm torn, I really am.

try another pedi. get a second opinion. If they are torn she is probably on the aspergers side of the scale. Typically there is a speech delay and social problems, but the children are SO intelligent!
