Jumpstarting Labor After 2 Weeks of Pregnancy?

posted 19th May
So I'm 39 weeks with 5 days until our little man is due... I've had a very easy pregnancy, with my biggest complaints being: It takes me longer to walk across campus & my skinny jeans don't fit anymore. You see? Nothing to complain about at all. I used to have blank looks on my face when other women would ask if I experienced the symptoms of pregnancy. In fact, the blow-up from my 5'9/119 lbs, Black Barbie look to my 164 lbs Preggo Black Barbie (lol) hasn't even bothered me. But I'm ready. YES, completely ready for labor. Bring it on! I've beentoo hot these past few days and the last 2 weeks of what I describe as "real pregnancy" is wearing on me. Since his father and I aren't buddies right now (so what my Doula recommended I do is completelyout). Can anyone suggest a way to safely jumpstart our journey?

All the tricks in the book will not work unless your body and your baby are ready.

But eating spicy foods, and long walks are supposed to help you get going if it's close enough to the time.

You are so darn close. Just wait it out. It wont be long. The longest it can be from now is what...2-3 weeks. You can do it!!! They will induce you if you go two weeks past due date

Walk walk walk. That's all I did the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy. If you are ready, the baby's head on your cervix will help it dilate more. Plus walking lots helps during labor.

I know. I'll should really stop being a brat and let him be. I guess it's this California summer heat wave we have going on right now that makes me long for the over-air conditioned hospital. And watch me try to run out the moment I get there.

Out of curiosity, are you naming him Hasan? That's a great name!

i know it may sound nasty, but ive watched all the babyu shows and the pregnant women drank a little bit of Canola oil to get their labor to start, i know what you mean about the California heat! im only 21 weeks and its totally killing me!!!! but like everyone else is saying, if you can wait it out just do that! its the best way! trust me, he'll stay in there til hes ready unless they do a C section!

No,the baby's last name will be Hasan. His father's family is Muslim & they all have Arabic names... His is hard for people to pronounce, so he is called by the last name when not at home. We called the baby 'Hasan' until we could think of a name for him.

I'm the same. I don't know anything helpful unless your baby is ready to come out. Though I have heard that eating eggplant will help. There is something in the eggplant that helps labor along. Fried eggplant tastes alot like fried zucchini.
