Mixed emotions.

I just found out my dad died yesterday. I have never met him. He knew about me, because he paid my mom child support and we got social security from him. His funeral is tomorrow at 11 am, would it be weird if I went? I have always wanted to meet him, and have been in touch with his nephew and niece recently. He didnt have a phone, so the only way I could have gotten a hold of him would be just showing up at his house, and I didnt want to do that. He was older, 76, and in bad health so I didnt just want to spring into his life like that. And now I never will me able to  

Not at all!
My husband's only met his dad 3 or 4 times in his life, the last time being 18-19 years ago. If we had known he died when he did, we would've attended his funeral.

Is there more family you can try to contact on his side?
Hubby and I have hunted down his half brother and half sister, and they're becoming a part of our life now. It really helps DH, because at least he still has a connection to his father through them and their memlries. Plus they've sent us a bunch of pictures.

i have tried to get in touch with his oldest son. i dont think he believed me when i told him about myself. i am going to message his niece tonight, i hope she can get back to me.

No she didnt. i guess he wasnt supposed to be able to have anymore kids, and he had an affair or something? not really sure. i have tried to contact his oldest son, my brother. but i dont think he believed me. they didnt know about me.
