school aged children & sharing a bedroom

posted 30th Aug '12
Oh hey, first post.   Anyways....

Would you share a bed-room with your school aged child? (4 yrs+)

I found the perfect apartment price wise & location wise. It's spacious but there's only two bedrooms. My roommate has claims on one of them. Leaving DD (who just turned 5) and I with the other. I'm thinking about my queen bed set up with a pop up trundle bed to save space. There's plenty of room elsewhere in the house for those times you just need to be alone. The apartment is in great condition and right near her school. The sharing a bedroom thing is my only uncertainty....

thoughts?

If it was short term then I would but not long term. My bedroo is my private space and I would not want to share it with toys and things like that. If it was a must of course I would but given the choice I would not share.

When I was single I did it Dean shared a room with me till he was 4ish then I got married, and we moved but at the time I could only afford a 1 bdr... he's 6 now and some nights I still wake up with him in my bed.o.O

Eta: he always had his own crib/bed and his area was on waaay other side of room...

I share a room with my daughter for now because she refuses to sleep in her own room. Pretty soon she is going to have to move into her own room because there will not be room in our room for our bed her bed and her new brothers crib. LOL I have a feeling she will be joining us after we fall asleep. haha

Its doable. When my mom and I and my grandma lived in nyc my mom and I shared a room until I was 9 and my grandma slept in the living room. It sucked but it wasnt horrible.

I agree with you, if it is just a short term it would be okay. It is really a mess having toys and things inside the room.

My son is 4.5 and shares a room with us but its by choice. He has a room but e has a bed set up in my room too. I don't mind.
I dated a guy and he shared a room with his dad. He was 16-17 at the time. They had a tiny room with little twin beds like a foot a part.

Sometimes I wish I had privacy... We all share a room here: my husband, myself, his 9 yr old son, my two toddlers (4 and 3). Have three beds all next to each other. looks a little odd, but we're comfy.

I shared a room with 2 kids. lol I lived in a 1 bedroom for a few yrs with my kids, before I had my 3rd one. lol

Its really costly to live here and I couldnt afford bigger at the time. My oldest needs to go to a certain school for her ISP class and if I moved out of the zone she couldnt go. lol

My middle was born in that apartment lol and my oldest was 6 at the time. I moved out Last yr. lol and they are now 10.5 yrs old and 4.5 yrs old. lol I was paying 950.00 a month plus utilities. lol Its crazy here how much rent is.

It worked out fine, the apartment was huge, and the bedroom was a good size, it had 3 double beds and 5 long dressers in it and a huge walk in closet. lol and we had room for all our stuff.

I agree with you, bedroom is a private space and not for toys or any things but it is also okay if it is just short term.
