Bottles&Nipples

posted 19th May
My son was in the NICU for 5 weeks and was feeding through the tube then with their bottles & nipples. The brand of the nipples are Enfamil (Standard Flow - blue). Anyway, they sent me home with some of the nipples and I have been trying to find a good nipple similar to the Enfamil ones. I know you can buy Enfamil nipples from the website, but they are disposable. I don't even know if I should be still using them anymore since i've washed them after each use and they are probably getting gross now.

Can anyone suggest a nipple similar to the Enfamil onesused in the NICU? Or did anyone have this problem when their little one came home?

My son used those nipple in the hospital. i washed then and reused them then i finally threw them away. IMO the dr. brown nipples are the same.

Edit. don't like the dr. browns bottles but i like the nipples.

I did the same thing. My daughter started off on formula but when I came home I gave her breast milk in a bottle. I kept reusing the small enfamil bottles they gave us hahaI really like the soothie nipples and bottles. She latched onto them really well and it keeps her from taking in to much milk. I bought them at Wal Mart and Target

How long did he take them for? We just started those a few days ago and she is really taking to them for now at least

Dr. Browns were good transitional bottles for both my babies. My son now uses the Playtex ventaire advanced and loves it.

Paige has been using Evenflo latex rubber nipples, medium flow since she's been home. I actually took the NICU Enfamil nipple to Babies R Us and spent like 30 minutes in the nipple/bottle aisle doing a sight comparison LOL. Paige took to the new nipples just fine.

i was so glad to see that someone else is having the same issue as we are...
my daughter, will be two months old tomorrow and we are still using the blue enafamil hospital nipples...i have bought more online, even though they are disposible they last for about 3 weeks, then you can tell they are getting thinner...and its time to order more...you get 6 for 10 bucks..
but i can only get them to fit into the playtex ventaire standard bottles...
gerber makes a nipple that i find id the closest in shape. so i sometimes use the gerber nipples in the playtex ventaire stardard bottles or the dr browns bottles.
my daughter is so picky that even the nipples that come with those bottles she wont drink out of. they seem to narrow in a little in the middle unlike the enfamil nipples. Also, if you have no issues with gas, colic or spit up...the soothie bottles are great. they are just like the pacifiers. Hope this helps..but we are still dealing with it. so if you have any more questions just private msg me.

I just bought some Gerber latex nipples this weekend... Paige used them for the first time today and she loved them. Sucked down her whole bottle with very little dribble and only a tiny burp! Along with the Gerber and Evenflo nipples I've been using Evenflo standard-sized BPA-free bottles.

It's funny, I've tried several times to get Paige to use silicon nipples and she HATES them. I've tried the Dr. Browns and Evenflo and she just won't drink with them. Thank goodness she doesn't have a latex allergy.
