is there a chat thread for CP? or other parents that have been down that route with their LO?

I'm no help but wanted to say I'm sorry if your LO has to go through that. My great uncle has it and it's tough to understand him, etc.

There are only a few moms on here who have kids with CP. One girl actually has CP. Go to the GDS thread and the moms with kids are listed. I believe there are only 2-3...

Has one of your kids been diagnosed?

My daughter will be seeing a neurologist in October and hoping to talk to other parents while I wait.

Why a neurologist? Is she getting an MRI? I have honestly found that developmental pediatricians are the best to treat CP.

GDS means Genetic Disorder Strong. It is a thread that links to moms on here that have or have kids with disabilities. I just checked and the moms listed with CP are no longer on there. I know them though and could get you in contact.

A friend of mine whose daughter is the same age as mine has CP, and she said I should see a neurologist. She also said if it's not CP it could be global developmental delay. She has all the signs except for being delayed in walking, rolling etc. She was actually really advanced in those areas. Lol.

CP is really difficult. It does not effect them cognitively (unless it is super severe) so it is so hard to get a diagnoses and make other understand.

my son needs to go to a physiatrist to get a MRI and see if he has CP.. i havnt made the appt yet tho. im here if you need to talk   he is 9 months

You are doing a sedated MRI?

yes. he has to get one for his heart anyway, i was going to see if they can do them both at the same time. since hes under 2, it has to be full sedation/ventilator/etc

Yup!! My eldest had one when she was 2. They wouldn't let me watch at all. But once they wheeled her limp cold body, covered by plastic tubing , from the room to recovery I just started bawling   I climbed in bed with her until she woke up and then fed her icies the nurse gave

hes already had 2 OHSs and 2 heart caths so unfortunatly im kinda "used" to seeing him covered in tubes. im pretty sure he will be extubated by the time i see him after tho, he was for his heart caths and thats a more invasive procedure
