Yes the do even babies that were MORE than forty weeks and have issues go to NICU Shocker right its for Newborns no matter the gestational age seriously the kid that was in the crib next to mine in the NICU was 41 weeks gestationally and mine was 37 weeks 3 days was his estimate when he got to the NICU it was the NICU that decided otherwise in my case...

i cant beleive how nasty some woman can be on here... i have only been on here a few days and think i might not bother anymore.... who cares where she posts her story her baby is sick... thats a horrible thing to have to go through.i hope your baby is better real soon and is home with you where you both belong. good luck.

Wrong. My daughter was nearly full-term, and she went to NICU. It's for neonates (hence Neonatal ICU). A 37 weeker may not technically be a preemie, but it's still hard to leave your LO in the hospital while you go home, no matter what their gestational age.

OP, I'm sorry for what you're going through. I hope your LO can come home soon.

Um, yes, they do. My daughter was 39 weeks and went straight to NICU. There are plenty of term, full-term and post-term babies in the NICU. Get your facts straight, and you STFU.

my son wass born at 40 weeks and was 9 pounds 1 oz and had to go the the NICU because his blood sugar was unstable and he needed an IV for 24 hours. What's your point in saying this? You don't know what you're talking about, so either offer support or shut up!!!!
OP, my friends DD was about 3 lbs and 2 months early and was in the NICU for 2 months and is now 5 months old and doing very well. It will be hard but your baby will be ok, hang in there!

baby may really be 37wks , u could of experience IUGR (intra uterine growth restriction) causing the baby to have low birth weight. Hope u get to take your baby home soon!
