my first doctors appointment

Is in three days, Thursday & I was wondering wat all they do @ the first appointment?

Give you a test to make sure you are pregnant. Get a history on you and the baby, check your BP and your weight. Basic stuff. Nothing too intense.

Usually, they ask a lot of questions, then do a blood test to confirm pregnancy. You MIGHT see a doctor them, but not usually. The first actual doctor visit, they do a vaginal exam, pap smear, all that fun stuff, give you the Do's andDon'ts lists, ask more questions, and give you the "Pregnancy Packet". One of the first two visits, they'll also prescribe your prenatal vitamins too.

Mine also does an vaginal exaime.

A lot of questions, some paperwork, draw blood, give you a due date, pap smear, fun fun things. Maybe vitamins, and pregnancy packets and pamphlets, and the like.

No ultrasound?

Some doc. give you an untrasound, some dont. Some you will get your pap and things like that, other it wont be until your 2nd apt.
It all really has to do with your doc. on what will happen.

i had a pap. and they took blood and did a urin test its nothing major. and they ask lost of questions about u, the daddy, and ur family history.

My doc gave me an ultrasound cause i couldnt even remember my last period. so i was like um i guess i could be four months pregnant lol, not really, but you get the idea. Some also do it if you have health problems and they want to check for a fetal pole or even if you have history of miscarriages./

Oh , okay Well I really hope she does, Some ppl say that if you have cramps they usually give you an ultrasound... Idk I hope so, I wanna see my baby!

No.8 weeks is too soon unless you are high risk. I got one at about 6 weeks because of my condition but normally they dont. The less U/S you have the better you are. Also, if you are hoping to se the sex of the baby you have about 10 more weeks to go.

I hate to break it to you but usually, you don't see ababy. It is a dark spotwith a massin it.Not really a baby at this point. They will however be able to detect a heartbeat.

I know I wont see the sex. Ive read alot about pregnacy

You will see a white blob. The Dr will bring out a dopler on your first visit to listen for a heartbeat. You are better off to not have too many U/S if you can avoid it.

my first doc visit was today. they did a pap smear, took my blood and gave me some pills the size of boulders that i have to take. they also gave me informationa and appointments about seeing a genetic counselor since both me and my bf have the sickle cell trait. i hope everything is ok with it.
