so how bad are they really?

posted 28th Aug
C sections that is? Im a beyond flipping terrified that Ill be needing one this time around idk why. I just have that bad feeling, and with the way this pregnancy and my life have been going it wouldnt surprise me. WIth my first son after being induced over 3 days and what seemed to be a failed attempt at progressing over those 3 days, they scheduled me at 6pm Thursday for a c section and I smurf you not when they came in to wheel me away to the OR I begged them to check me since I was feeling pressure and lucky me I finally got to 9cm so I delivered vaginally a few hours later. I refuse to get one unless all my options have been tried and failed or me or the baby are in danger then fine. Im just terrified for some reason like beyond just normal labor/delivery anxiety. Like I feel like I will die if I end up with a c section or something will go horribley wrong. Ugh idk just ranting about my fear of surgery I guess. Also if you had one how did you manage with a newb and another kid at home? I have a 4yr old son and no help this go around.

I was actually pretty content with mine. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be.

SO was on paid leave when we got home, so he handled everything the first day, and I was on it the next. No problem.

IMO A c-section is the only time the statement, "You're going to feel pressure" is accurate.

The surgery wasn't a bad experience for me, but healing from it is a pain in the ass.

It was not nearly as bad as I had been led to believe. Get up and move as soon as they let you, walk and drink lots of water! Don't use a straw or drink carbonated drinks, you do not want gas.
I stopped taking any pain meds before I left the hospital, and though sore I was moving around just fine. I went grocery shopping the day I was discharged.

Awesome! Overall sounds like Im just amping myself up. But so far nothing really to negative. I expect it to hurt for a while after but the surgery itself when its being done is what has me freaking out. Im not sure how well it would go over with my crazy anxiety but hopefully I wont even need one. Thank you very much everyone!!

I had one with my daughter and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I felt nothing when they were doing it (only the pressure mentioned in a post above) and after wasn't TO bad. I had some pain but nothing I couldn't handle. I noticed that if I slept proped up a little that it helped a lot. Also for what ever reason (and im not trying to freak you out more than you already are) my skin on my stomached burned. Like a sun burn feel but if I put lotion on it i was fine.

I was under for mine. And under general anesthesia the procedure does faster, because they have to get the baby out. I was holding and nursing DD within less than 35 minutes of put under.

my csection was due to no progress too. my water broke @ 6 am and i was in the hospital waiting for 19 hours. my son was starting to be in distress as well as me. it turned out to be a blessing cause he got stuck in my pelvis and his cord was wrapped around his neck. the surgery went fine and i was up before my doc expected me to be. just breath and listen to your body. although it was hard not being able to lift the first week i healed quickly and didnt need much pain meds. Just talk to your doc and let them know how you feel. My doc was great and having someone (SO or family) there will help too. good luck

I pushed out a 10 & 9 over and it was a lot better then a carcinoma. Just the recovery of a carcinoma sucks. They tear your muscles in your tummy so there not even useable LOL. They gave me an option with my #4. Unless he decides for me I'm getting a vaginal 10lbs and a.
