What is his diagnosis? My three year old will have serious, 30 minute meltdowns and there is no consoling him. He will scream at the top of his lungs, thrash around, cry and cry. Over little things. Like, today was not "sucker day" at day care so there was a 30 minute meltdown.

its just PDD-NOS right now - pervasive developmental delays - not otherwise specified. So, he's not on par with his age group, but he isn't far enough behind/showing enough traits to be considered autistic.

My son's meltdowns recently have been over trains. he will attach his trains to one another and then try to pull them, and there are so many that a few flip on to their sides, and he loses it.

omg. this sounds like my son exactly. we are getting him tested for autism on october 25th, but im not convinced it is autism. i always knew it was something i just didnt know what. im so glad i came across your post

yea, i had my son tested at 18 months. he showed really clear delays - like, he didn't even know his own name until he was 2.5, but he's always been very very social, which seems to rule out autism as the issue. But yea, PDD-NOS puts him at the bottom of the autism spectrum. He could easily catch up with his peers and move off of the spectrum all together, or his symptoms and delays could just keep on gettign worse, and he could move "up" the spectrum. *sigh*
