Male Factor Infertility Support Group

posted 25th Aug
Hi Ladies!

I thought I'd make this support group, to see if anyone else is dealing with male factor infertility. I haven't seen much on the topic and wanted to reach out to see if others can relate.

Does your DH/SO have a low sperm count or a 0 sperm count (azoospermia)?
What are your options or treatments?
Does anyone have success stories?!

My DH and I have been TTC for 3 years, with no luck! My doctor referred us to an RE. We got our fertility work up done, and DH had a S/A which turn up as 0- which is known as Azoospermic. A second S/A confirmed it, and a visit to the first urologist told us his FSH level was high- 23.5. We are currently waiting to see a second urologist, but we have agreed on our option of using a donor, if DH can not have any biological children.

Please share your stories, if your comfortable & vent!

I don't deal with this personally, but I think its great your SO is willing to use a donor. I have a friend who can't have children of his own. He wants so badly for his wife to agree to a donor but she's the one who isn't comfortable with it.

I think they will be looking into adoption soon.

Thank you! I'll be honest, I was pretty much dead set against it, So was my DH. but that was before his appointment with the urologist who said they weren't hopeful that he would have biological children. DH immediately brought it up as an option, I started warming up to the idea when I knew he was comfortable about it.

He says that he still wants to be a father regardless of genetics, and tells me that he wants our baby to be part of us, and being mine genetically is enough for him. He's been so supportive to ME even though he's going through all of this.

I figured this would be a good place for us to vent, I know this isn't a lot about male factor. Thank you!

I am not going to let this thread fall behind lol even if it's only two or three of us on here.

I have good days and bad days with coping with DHs azoospermia. This weekend were bad days and I'm just angry and sad... I just have to continue staying positive and hope for the best at this urologist appointment. I hate waiting around for appointments etc... I'm wasting valuable time!!!

Sorry, we've had a busy weekend. I know how you feel. My husband brought the issue back up last week and I was so hesitant. All I could do was cry as we talked about it and he wasnt here to make me feel better (he was in OH for work training grrrr) He def wants to try and in the end be able to say he did what he could. But I just didnt want to go through all the issues taht come every month with going crazy on if I have symptoms or not. Its a lot on me. Finally I gave in and said fine. We are going to try with the help of fertilaid. I did some research and it apparently has all the vitamins that should be there to help produce good sperm. Our issue is low sperm motility. i ordered two bottles thanks to an awesome groupon that came out for a vitamin website. He even agreed to have a SA done again after our two month trial is up. I'm really praying this helps in some way shape or form. I'd love to give him a baby of his own (although our daughter carries his name, she is not biologically his). i need to remain active in a thread.. I use to be on BG all the time but after I gave it up for lent i just really didnt kick back up, i guess bc the ladies I was initally in a thread with all disappeared.

Here's to hoping we making some type of progress with our fertility issues

I'm glad to hear you have a plan and are going to try your best- that's what DH and I are going to do, we may go into debt but it's worth a shot to try whatever we can in order to have a child.

I have also heard good things about that vitamin. I hope it helps his swimmers! I want DH to try it but I'm not sure if it would help with a 0 sperm count. I will have to look more into it!

I love our TTC support group- but I figured there's a lot of different type of infertility and thought this would be nice to have a place where we know others who are dealing with the same thing and can vent or share stories. I hope we can all stay active in this thread and hopefully welcome new people as well.

DH was diagnosed with a low sperm count in 09 when we were TTC my daughter. His count ranged from 10-18 million. Our RE found out that DH's testosterone estrogen ratio was to blame, so he was put on Clomid for a week then he was put on Femara for a few months. We ended up doing an IUI cycle and got pregnant with out daughter.

This time around DH's count is lower than before.. We did IUI in May, his count was only 9 million. Our RE did more blood work on DH and found out his FSH levels are elevated so he's been on Clomid for almost 4 months now. In September DH goes back for another S/A to determine if IUI or IVF is best for us.

I hear you about the wasting time thing... I had to postpone my first RE appointment and I was almost in tears because it was another 3 weeks.

I'm right there with you. I have a son with my ex husband and I want to give my husband a child. He loves my son like he's his own but it's like a piece of our family is missing.

I hope the fertile aid will help!
