I try to stay as positive as I can, sometime it's hard and I have to break down but other times I can keep it together. I always think even though we are going through this awful thing, I still have it better than others and I have to be grateful for that. Also, I think about how this expierence and life lesson will make me a stronger person, not only individually but stronger in our marriage as well. I feel like if we can conquer this and get by, we can get through anything and it really validates our love and how strong it is.

I know, im hoping it's not SCO... I have researched it and it matches the high FSH and no other high levels so I'm scared! But I need to stop self diagnosising(sp?) him because I'll go crazy!


Yeah I changed my picture- this was taken a while back I need a new updated "family photo" haha, with my dog!

I found out through a girl I know that hosts our play dates (I'm a nanny) that another nanny that comes to the play date also is dealing with male factor infertility. I'm off to a play date and to chat with her, if she gives me any advice or words of wisdom I will pass it on  

So I called the doc office and asked for the results from my husband's SA and this is what they were. She also sent recommendations of urologist, but they are at least 45-1 1/2 hours away from me. I'm gonna look a little more local now that I know what kind of doc exactly he should see. His fertilaid is on the way so he will be starting that soon and I've started taking my prenatals again. I thought about getting the fertile tea bc its suppose to help balance a women's cycles and it seems like lately mine have been coming out kinda jacked up length wise. I use to be 27 days exactly until I got off BC almost a year ago.

Maybe I don't know how to read this, but the results look normal. It's nice they gave you this hand out. I'm a kaiser perm. patient and the SA results were only available over the phone.
My cycles were really messed up after BC as well. I used to be 29 days and then my mirena was put in... then coming off of it my cycles would vary.
Sorry the urologist they recommended are so far away. DH was complaining and he only has to dive 45 minutes away.

I hate to come off as a whiney little baby but I've already been through enough crap in my life to make me a strong person... I just want a baby lol.

I knowwhat you mean about new family pictures...the most recent ones we have is from our wedding in 2010. We're looking into getting photos done soon. Outdoor fall photos are the best.

Ashleigh - What were DH's other hormone levels?
DH's testosterone just came up (like a week and a half after it was drawn). His is only 166. LH was 7. FSH 17.

They didn't tell us the other hormone levels, which I wish I would of known, DH didn't even ask what they were because the urologist said they were normal and he is oblivious to this kind of stuff so he didn't ask lol

For the most part it is, but his sperm dont progress forward. He has plenty of them, they just dont move very far or enough to make something happen. I've been fortunate to get a copy of the items. I've also seen all my results as well and have those somewhere in my closet LOL.

After looking around online, it looks like his testosterne levels are pretty low. I don't know if they're going to do anything about it.
LH is normal
FSH is slightly elevated, 12-15 being the high end of normal.
I guess we'll see what the urologist has to say tomrrow.

I will as soon as I hear something.
I hope they give him something or do something and not just send us on our way. That's the way all of our appointments have been. My first appointment with the nurse practioner with the infertility program was like that. "Oh, it'll probably happen soon. Just give it some time." or "A lot of couples conceive within the first few months of going through the begining process."

Hubby has low sperm count normally 10-12 million count- so far the RE hasn't sent him for blood work, but we did go to a urologist for treatment for 6 months
Dr says that IUI probably will not work, so we may have to do IVF



My DH and I have been TTC for 3 years, with no luck! My doctor referred us to an urologist for 6 months and then we went to the RE. We went one visit last year and didn't go back because we had too many things at that time to deal with. Now its been 3 apts since I started seeing him again. Dh had another SA and his count was 10 million. Dr put me on 100 mg of clomid cd 5-10, hcg 10,000 units before insemination and progesterone suppositories. Well today was my ultrasound and I was expecting to be inseminated tomorrow, but his office is closed all weekend. So he scheduled me to come back in on tuesday for another ultrasound. He pretty much told me IUI would only work if we used donor sperm and that it was a waste of money. He told me that our only real option is IVF. This just really upsets me!! I went in today thinking that I would be getting scheduled to be inseminated and it didn't happen   I just really can't stand the thought of a needle being inserted inside of my ovaries- I hate pain! Which if my husband sticks by me through the apts and everything, I'm considering it. Its just really frustrating, especially today of all days he didn't go with me to the apt. I feel alone in some way, even though we are TTC. Even though I was told I can get pregnant just by using fertility medicine, it is struggling to know that my DH is the problem.

If any one has any suggestions on what we could try please let me know!

Welcome to the Group!!!

I hope you guys both come to an agreement on the subject. IVF isn't a bad route to go, but can be quite expensive if insurance doesn't cover it. As for the pain thing, don't worry... I'm a wimp when it comes to that stuff too, and basically did all my research on the subject, and A LOT of women are stating that you're sedated for the egg retrieval, like your knock out so you don't remember a thing.

My husband has a 0 sperm count, so we don't really have any options as of right now until we see a urologist to determine his diagnosis, but if I was in your position I would go with IVF, but that's me and I can't account for you and how you and DH will feel about it. You should really talk together and figure out what's best for you. It's expensive and can be physically and emotionally exhausting.
