My Aunt

posted 19th May
My Aunt is looking to adopt. She is a resident of Arizona and has had three miscarriages over the past two years. It's tearing her apart, and she's looking into adoption (even having gone so far as to ask me to inquire amongst my friends). I haven't seen her since before I got pregnant as it is too hard for her to be around me, and I was hoping to get some advice as to how to help her. What is the first step she should take? Is there anyone looking for a capable family to adopt?

I wish I could help you with that one. My best advice is to just look into every possibility, every adoption agency possible.

That's kinda mean that she wont be around you since she is hurting from the m/cs and not having a child. She should be happy for you, you are family.

Are there international adoption programs or agencies to look into?
What about foster care... surely there are avenues already set up for her to get guides into it. what about contacting gee I dont know, someone like human services or hospitals, churches or child welfare organisations, surely they would have contacts. if not ask Oprah?

Charming.

I am, however, looking for assistance in Arizona. I have not ventured into the world of adoption, nor am I inclined to search through the websites and agencies. I'm interested in recommending them, and it would be nice to have an experienced opinion.

I'll pass on the Oprah tidbit, though. Everyone loves their fifteen minutes.

obviously you misread my intentions...I have no experience in adoption nor knowledge of the processes!
I was not being a smart ass!
This is an open forum as I am sure you are aware and I thought you were honestly looking for input.... not the direct specific answers and directions for your enquiries.
The "Oprah" comment was ligitimate and more as an avenue to perhaps investigate her website as I am sure her producers and executive would have some list of contacts or charities/organisations that they have featured.
I was not being cheeky in anyway...
OBVIOUSLY I am not worthy of giving any advice in your opinion...sorry for trying to help!

My follow-up Oprah comment was actually a joke, not meant to undermine you.

The 'gee' comment was what made it seem somewhat hostile and sarcastic. I apologize if I misinterpreted. My reply was not intended to slight you, and I'm sorry if it seemed that way. Your worthiness was never in question, your intention was just jumbled by the lack of inflection over the internet. In light of this, thank you for providing your advice, and I hope that everything is well with you and yours.

the gee, was a moment of reflective thought, trying to think if I knew of any suggestions.
infortunately intonation and expression goes astray when typing, much like txt messages.
apology accepted and returned.
Good luck to you and your aunt too.Hope it all works out.

Steven Curtis and Mary Beth Chapman have an adoption assistance website called www.shaohannahshope.org/
I would suggest your aunt start there.

GOOD LUCK to her. Adoption is a wonderful option. I pray the best for her.
