Autism Evaluation Vs Testing

So small backstory: A psychologisy thinks Cora *could* have an ASD. or she could just be really frickin weird  

I sent in a referall to my insurance company to have her evaluated at our local child development center

I just found out today that she was denied for testing

They approved her evaluation, but denied the testing

What is the difference? Where do I go from here?

I think you do the evaluation first and then go for testing. We had to go to a place were an autism-focused nurse practitioner did an evaluation on her. Then we got put on a wait list for further testing by a psychologist.

They said they they wouldn't approve the testing because I didn't go through the school district

BUT I did go through the district. It was the preschool evaluator who suggested I go to this developmental center

It's all a jumble

Really?   Can you find a private child behavoiral psychologist that can test and diagnose?

This place is the best

but I am going to speak with Cora's doc. I gotta make an appointment to go over everything. I just need some help and Cora hasn't seen her doc since april and we never really talked behaviour....

Ahh. Hopefully you'll be able to get in soon. It's nice to have peace of mind about what the issues are so you can figure out how to help her more effectively. She might not even be labeled autistic. Some people just have lots of quirks.
