As for the adoption subsidy, if you have custody shouldnt it be going to you now and not him? Also you should get DOR involved

you should both get it. When my dad passed away... my mom, myself, and my sister and my brother all got it.

Why do you allow him to have the adoption subsidy (sp?) surely there's something you can do about that!

We went down before we officially recieved my dads, but he was in the hospital dying of cancer and collecting SSI so they had already knew about his death. Sorry for her loss btw.

MY SO's first 2 kids mother passed away & I know the kids get her SSI benefits Her mom tried to get it but they wouldn't let her cause she didn't have the kids in her custody. I'm not sure how it works anywhere else. But I would call them if you can first & ask to try & find out any info.

Unless She passed from something clear cut, go apply now. Death Certificates can take 4-20 weeks depending on the corner's list for that county and how many counties he may cover.

If you have something Legally stating you have full custody of H that will favor you over her dad as well.

They were indeed divorced? If so it will go to the child first. This is in the state of washington though. Good luck to you!
