I assume though it is still done with limited medical observation, by that I mean you are first given a scan to date the pregnancy and are asked a number of questions to determine that you are medically fit for this option before being able to go home to carry out the procedure? It can't be safe to simply order the pills online with no medical check or scan prior. I do wish they offered the option to be at home if you wish over here. In our case you must attend the hospital for a scan to date the pregnancy, have a chat wth a medical profesional to dicuss the options available to you and go over your medical history. This is where they will offer additional services available such as counselling if you so wish it, determine such things as your reasons and make sure that the termination is completely your choice and no one is forcing you such as a parent/partner, etc, etc. You then arrange with them when it issuitable to go back to take the first pill, on going to this app you take one pill orally and it is explained that this pill is the start of the termination and once you decide to take it there is no option but to continue as the process will have already started. You then return to the hospital 2 days later to take the 2nd dose of medication which is taken vaginally and this is when you have to remain in hospital to be monitored, staying from 9am to 5pm. If in this time they are satisfied you have passed everything you are free to go home and not return, if you have not you can go home and must return for a scan to check everything has passed. Every girl is given antibiotics to prevent infection and also of course advice on contraception, etc...... Prior to all this you visit your own local doctors practice who refer you to the hospital.

Here they date your pregnancy and then give you a dose of meds and then go home and then 24 hours later either take the pills in your cheeks or vaginally. I guess they do the 2 weeks thing just so they can be sure that you pass everything. I know I clotted for a good couple days to a week.

Its funny how things are totally different in places.

Yes it is funny how things are so different... Like I said I do wish the option was available to go home with the pill here. Whilst remaining in the Hospital from 9am to 5pm you have no privacy, you are put in a large hospital room with a TV and 5/6 recliner chairs and the room is full with other girls who are there going through the same thing so yes you have to go through all the pain in a very cold public setting on your own as you are not allowed to have anyone with you. There is no support as every girl sits as white as a sheet, not a word spoken between anyone for the entire time and the day is just filled with visits to the bathroom and curling up on this chair.... As I said I felt fortunate that in that time I did not pass anything other than just normal blood, nothing actually passed until I was at home with my Husband where I had that support. I felt bad enough being on my own in the hospital going through all the pain so I can't imagine if that would have happened in a unfamiliar cold hospital bathroom on my own with no support. I do hope in future this option is viewed as safe and is allowed here in the UK!
