I can't take anymore bad news =[

Well I had my twins Sunday, at 35 +5 weeks. Both very beautiful boys. Both still in the NICU =[
One has been there the whole time, trouble breathing on his own. Worked him off the oxygen for a day or 2, got him eating, and then bam, back on oxygen, iv fluids, 2 different antibiotics, and now labs and xrays every 12 hours cause they think he has an infection. We get the blood culture back today.
My other little one was in the room with me the whole time I was there, but has been having trouble getting the hang of eating, so he was staying in the nursery to gain weight and learn to eat better. Then last night we got a call about 4am saying he was going on oxygen, and a feeding tube.
I don't think I can handle any more bad news about my boys. I know they were early, and I know preemies have some issues. It just seems like they'll take a step forward and end up two steps back. I want them to be ok and home and snuggling with mommy.

I know it's hard mama, but they will take good care of them so they can come home and snuggle with you. They will get the hang of it!
Congrats on the boys!

Sorry you're going through this! Just remember, they are getting the best of care, and many, many babies go through similar things and are just fine.

Good news time. Kraven's xrays and blood work are showing improvement. His picc line is in. Blood culture came back already and was negative for NEC, but Dr thinks its just contained in his intestines. But the antibiotics seem to be working. He's not acting sick. So 7 more days of antibiotics, another xray, and then hopefully he'll slowly start feeding again.
Slade is on very minimal oxygen, could be off tonight. Got started on the same antibiotics as his brother just in case. But his blood work and xrays aren't showing any signs of the NEC. Blood culture will be back in 2 days. Dr thinks he just aspirated while eating and wanted to be by his brother. He should be back on feeding in 2 days depending on his culture. But they are watching him just in case.
The Dr seems very positive about everything. Just keeping my fingers crossed I don't get a call from their nurse telling me any bad news between now and tomorrow morning. (I'll be back in to see the boys later tonight so they don't normally call during the day unless something really bad were to happen)

I'm sorry, mama. It is disheartening when you see others come and go and you and your little ones are still there...It is perfectly normal and okay for you to feel like that. If you need someone to talk to, you can PM me or PT me. I too went through the same feelings, the NICU rollercoaster for over 3 months.
Good luck hun and I'll keep you and your little ones in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks guys.
Just an update, the boys are doing a LOT better. Both still in the NICU but they're doing good. Slade is eating, every other feeding threw a bottle, the rest threw his feeding tube, but he's up to 30ml now. Kraven has another 2 days on the antibiotics, then another xray to make sure the infection is gone and then will start up eating on Thursday. We get to hold them both when we come to visit now. So now its just a waiting game on when I'll have them home.
