It's generally a year wait, sometimes longer

Also, if your ex wants to keep his rights, he can.

Well obviously, it's up to your ex. I'd just ask him flat out if that's what he wants. And your fiance would have to adopt your daughter at the time that he signs over his rights

i think that the bio father has to willingly give up rights, if he doesnt and he has that right, then you have to prove him completely unfit, which im sorry is very very hard. your best bet is to go to court, and get a parenting agreement in writing.

Stop letting her Skype with him...?? Unless you're court-ordered to do so, and even then, I'd say smurf the courts and do what's best for my child. Is she old enough to have a say in the matter? You can't just terminate his rights, however, especially since he's paying support... he would have to willingly give them up, which he might do if he wants out of paying cs.

He has to be willing to give up his rights. My sisters husband has a child with an ex girlfriend and he has full custody of his daughter. She never sees her mom. My sister and her husband offered her a few thousand dollars to give up her rights and she was willing. It never did go any farther and I don't know why, but if you can offer him money to give up his rights maybe you can try that. Though I doubt that's legal...
