So is it maybe more common for bigger babies to lose more?

He's so cute! About the milk...as long as you're still putting him on the breast...I don't think it should take any longer than a week or two.

My nipples hurt!!! We've been exclusively breastfeeding since day one. Liam is 12 days old. We've already suffered through thrush that we're just now getting over. When will I have nipples of steel? I spoke with the lactation consultant at the hospital I delivered at. She watched and made sure we had a proper latch at both breasts. We have a perfect latch... She said I just have really sensitive nipples.   I decided to pump this morning and try a bottle to give my nipples a break. I feel like a failure. He took the bottle no problem at all and still latches on just fine too. Would it ruin my supply to pump AND nurse just to relieve my nipple pain?

Also, I've tried lanolin (medela and lasinoh) nipple cream and these gel packs for sore nipples. My nips still hurt like hell!

i had this issue with my first...lasted 3 months for me because i started bleeding and the suction always ripped off the blood crust  
it was hell and i cried every time she latched. but i couldnt get anything with pumping and she refused the bottle so it was our only way to feed her and i toughed it out.

this time i started getting cracked bleeding nipples after nursing for 2 days. i blame it on the nurse forcing me to pump the day he was born because he slept so long. i swear its the only reason they got sore because i got blisters from the suction even though i was only attached to the damn thing for 2 minutes.  
fighting through it with a lot of air and nipple cream.
my breastfeeding help told me to put neosporin on right after he is done feeding, air them out and wash off with a wash cloth right before he nurses again. it helped A LOT!

Hey ladies. Well had my daughter the 20th by c-section. She is perfect and so beautiful. Hopefully going home today. So ready. Going to try and put up pics.

I think so. My kids were all c-sections so they retained a lot of fluid and lost more than 10% of their weight in the first few days. My doctor just wants to keep an eye on it because we were having problems with latching but he didn't seem too concerned because she was still having a normal amount of wet/soiled diapers per day.

I had this issue with DS. Lasted 2-3 weeks max. I think your best bet at this age is to tough it out... Your almost through it and messing with the pump and bottles can cause more problems the more you do it this early in the game. You risk him preferring the bottle or worse your supply declining as the pump doesn't empty your breasts as the baby will.

Yup this. Your body doesn't just make milk two times a day. It's in there whether yore seeing or feeling it or not. Just let him nurse. He won't starve. Hell trigger your supply. You just have to stop supplementing. That's the big key.

This again haha. Plus the more they have a bottle the more they may develop a lazy latch and hurt u more. I know it sucks  

Jace keeps fussing/crying while breastfeeding. While sucking though, and will keep unlatching and trying to relatch. I don't know what's wrong.

I have the same issue. My right side is better, but the left is just being a pain. I've been pumping that side. No issues with my supply.

Have you checked for thrush?

I had the same issue with DD and she had silent reflux and a protien allergy. I had to cut all dairy out of my diet and had no more problems. Try keeping a food diary and log his behavior to see if there is something you are eating that he's reacting to.
