Had my 36 week check up today. Got GBS swab. Then due to me having contractions as often as I've been the last 3-ish weeks my doctor went ahead and checked me. I'm about 1 cm dilated, but only the opening of cervix, doctor said it felt as though my cervix hasn't completely opened yet on the inside like toward baby. Baby is head down but in 'sunny side up' position. At appointment baby's head was not engaged and doctor said baby was 'still floating,' which apparently is good meaning baby still has time to turn towards my back (totally hoping for btw so that I don't have a super long labor & back labor like last time...DD was sunny side up during labor/delivery & birth). My doctor isn't too concerned about which way baby is facing as long as they remain head down since she said she can turn baby during labor/delivery, which from my understanding is different from flipping a breech baby? Like less chances for complications since baby is already head down...please let me know if that's wrong because I don't want to risk anything with baby if a c-section would be a safer option!

Also, I'm surprised baby's head wasn't engaged, because I know it has been, I can completely feel a difference from when baby is and isn't; not sure how to explain it other than its uncomfortable, causes more hip/pelvic pain, stabbing/shooting pains in vagina area, and I can barely walk during it because the extra pressure causing all the extra pains previously mentioned. I've not had it for a few days, so I'm not extremely surprised baby's head wasn't engaged, I had just been hoping I had gotten used to the pain and wasn't noticing it anymore rather than baby 'disengaging' or whatever it would be called lol.

My doctor said with all the contractions to continue taking it easy and laying down when they happen, but after next Tuesday (I'm 37 weeks next Tuesday) that I can bounce on a ball, walk like crazy, etc. to try and see if the contractions will progress into real labor if I want. I'm going to wait longer depending on how things go because I want to give baby as much time as possible to not only bake longer, but also to turn from sunny side up position if possible.

It's better to have sunny side up than breech. They can turn actually while descending down the birth canal. And I'd not oh well u can still have a vag birth.

I had to sit on a birthing ball today cause my pelvic muscles were cramping bad. It felt so good to open my pelvis up. I wanted to sit there all day. But I can only do it in 20 mon increments so my hips don't lock up.

I told DH I want to get a ball next week so I can see if it helps the hip pain I've had pretty much the entire pregnancy (started around 5 wks), but I don't want to do any bouncing or anything yet to help labor progress or the contractions to possibly turn into labor or whatever if that makes sense. I'm trying to hold out for that stuff until 38 weeks or after. I know baby can still turn and all, which I'm hoping for, but DD sure didn't so I'm just trying to prepare myself for the different possibilities really and trying to keep an open mind about the whole birth plan thing. I'm more of a 'let's see as we go' kinda person so that if things don't go according to plan, it doesn't entirely get my hopes up.

I feel so sick today. Can't even eat. All I want to do is clean up the messes that DH and DS keep making.

And I had another gush of discharge this morning. I really thought it was my water because it wet the bed and my panties were soaked. Hopefully I'll get answers at tomorrow's appointment.

Sorry you feel so sick. At least you have a doc appointment tomorrow and they can maybe find out what's going on with all the discharge. I too, have an appointment tomorrow, but it's just my 33 week check-up.

It's not too much of a big deal, the baby normally turns during delivery. It's not that difficult for the doctor to turn them at that point. A couple more weeks for you and you're pretty much good to go. I feel so far behind  I turn 33 weeks tomorrow.

That's what hubby keeps saying. I keep obsessing because my aunt just had her baby a couple days ago, and a few cousins had their babies last month and the month before. It's hard when you see everyone else holding their newborns and you still have a while to go. I just want to meet her and hold her!

I know you're right & baby can turn, I'm just nervous because an don't want a repeat of what happened the first time. DD probably didn't turn from sunny side up because I was lucky enough for her to have turned from transverse breech to head down just before labor/delivery. My doctor last time totally sucked on pretty much everything, 1 being that they didn't even attempt to turn DD at any point during labor/delivery. My new doctor this time is confident that if need be, she can do it and have a safe birth for baby and an easier labor for me.

You are right about the labor part though. It can be more painful and more work if baby isn't in the correct position coming out. Hopefully, though, you won't have that problem.

Yeah the nurse brought me one last night and omg instant pain relief in my pelvis. So joke. All I had to do was sit strattling the thing. I rocked side to side to stretch the sore muscles between my legs but that's it. Best choice ever.

That's scary! How did you decide it wasn't the water breaking?
