A contraction is going to be rythmic tightening in your uterus, not cervix. it'll wrap all the way front to back

Oh okay! So when I have a contraction, I will feel discomfort or cramping in my tummy area, not downstairs?

Was about to say the same thing.

I've been having them since Saturday when I went to L&D for dehydration from the stomach flu. It was so bad... Baby was completely perfect but as for me... I felt like I was on my death bed puking every 15 minutes and having consistent contractions from the amount of stress my body was undergoing. I feel much better today. Hopefully everyone else is doing fantastic starting the new year!

Whew I'm so glad to be feeling better today. I was acidy and nauseas all damn day. Today is better but my appetite is still low.

I've been having too much time to think and was watching all these stupid educational videos they have. I was getting upset about not seeing her for hours after birth. And how it was all gonna affect Bfing. And I was just so stressed and upset. And my nurse told me about my hospitals 36 weeks rule. If the baby is 35 weeks she HAS to go to nicu no matter what. But if she's 36 she can be assessed and POSSIBLY stay with me. So that is my new goal. Jan 28th. My nurse took me on a tour of the OR and stuff so my anxiety was lessened about the unknown of where I'm going. So that helped a lot. She showed me where my recovery room and post partum room would be. I got sad because my PP room has a crib for baby and I'll be so heartbroken if its empty   I might tell them te day of if she goes to nicu please take the crib out so it doesn't upset me.

Question:

So if I keep getting contractions any time I do anything besides lay down, is my doctor likely to put me on bed rest? They told me they don't stop labor once you hit 34 weeks (which I'm not happy about, since I thought 36 weeks was the standard) and I'm 35 weeks today. I can't exactly do bed rest considering I've already got DD I stay home with and take care of, so 5 more weeks of laying down is pretty much out of the question. I've got no other known issues to need bed rest aside from contractions. Anyone else experience this or something similar before and how did your doctor(s)/midwife handle it?

I'm still sorry you're experiencing this and the stress it's causing, but I'm happy you have an amazing nurse who is helping inform you & ease your fears/anxieties a bit, that's pretty awesome!

Are u able to just out yourself on a modified bed rest. Like obviously you can take care of dd but just lay down literally as much as possible?

I've been trying that and DD hasn't been handling it too well   breaks my heart. I guess I'm trying to find a happy medium between doing my best taking care of DD & the house (nesting & what not) and keeping this baby in as long as possible. Hopefully baby stays put until due date or later.

Well if u can get in a good 2 weeks of taking it easy then you can safely best all you want   I know it's hard but you risk a lot having LO right now. I mean yeah it could be fine, but what of it's not and you don't get to take her home with you  I try to bring activities to the living room for dd and do them with her on the couch so I can lay down (well when I was home haha)

Yeah, I'm hoping to make it at least 3 more weeks or to due date if it's anything I can control. Worst case scenario I can see about DH taking some days off work or working less hours (like a day or 2 a week maybe) to help keep her more entertained if it becomes a serious enough issue with her being affected by it.

I hope time flies now that it is 2013! Lol. My due date seemed like forever away because it was in a whole different year.

So I'm at the doctor's and I just made my final payment. On the bottom of my receipt I noticed that they scheduled me to be induced on my due date at 10:45am. I NEVER mentioned that I wanted to be induced. We've never even talked about me being induced.

I'm pretty pissed. I'm cancelling the appointment but bothers me that they think this is okay.

Yeah, that would NOT be ok with me either! Are you going to talk to your doctor about it & be like WTH?

Wtf?!?! I doubt u need induced anyway. You're on freaking bed rest to stop labor haha. Obviously once it's safe to have baby u can do stuff again and probably go into labor. I'd cancel that smurf too
