Ahh my family sucks!! *long*

Seriously they do, I told my mum and dad on thursday nite.. they seemed to be ok with the whole pregnancy thing (they were in shock) and no questions asked (i was really suprised), well just after i rang them i rang my nan (who im very close too) and told her. SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!

Ok wel i will start from the beginning, a few weeks ago (b4 i found out i was preg)my nan said to me that she didnt think we (steve and i) should have a baby at least til after our 12 month wedding anniversary, i was like what ever. Then she said to me bout 6 or so days ago that if she ever found out that i was lying to her about anything she wouldnt talk to me ever. I laughted it off and go no, im not lying to you and i know your only joking, there is nothing im hidding (id only just found out i was preg and was really trying to not tell anyone til i was 12 wks).

Anyways when i ran my nan on thursday nite, i said hi how are you etc.. and i go "oh i have something to tell you... im pregnant, im only 4 weeks so dont tell anyone.. im sorry i lye" and thats when she hung up on me!. At first i just thought that the phone cut out or somehting, but for like 3 hrs tht night i tried to ring back (no answer obviously).

Anywaysmy mum rang up this morn to see if i had heard from her and i said no, then mum went on to say (like i didnt know already)that if a baby isborn with spina bifida it happens in the first month"duh mum" i told her. Then she was saying htat my DH will have to quit workbecause i canttake care of the baby on my own. At this point i dont want to say"oh well i was really hoping thatfamily and friends would be there for me". Andshe started saying all thisother horrid stufflike "oh iagree with nanits toearly" and all thisshit!! Gawd i am sooo mad with everyone. I rang steve crying myeyes outand telling him all the stuff mum had said to me. (which is prob what mumexpected me to do, cause now shel think tht everytime somthinggoes wrongwith the baby after its born that ilring steve and want him to come home) thats f**ing crap.Isaid to stevethat moving the melbourne looks like a really good idea atm (were his family is) cause we know we have their support.

I kind of expected this from my family.. but stil it hurt like hell!And i dont reallyneed this today since ivegot my first U/S this afternoon =(. (im like soo not excited about it anymore).

Im sure everyone will get more used to the idea and come around!

sometimes we want our family's 2 be excited.. just like us.. but sometimes they are more shock'd then anything.. Just relax and they will come around   let them have time to exsorb the information given to them and they will come around soon/alater.. seems like later 2 us.. but it wont be very long..

OT, but do you have spina bifida? Just wondering because you mentioned it. But back onto what you were saying. They'll get over it hopefully. You and your husband are happy, so phooey on them. Good luck!

Yes i was born with spina bifida.

Why would he have to take off work to care for the baby? even if you need some help there's always daycare ornannythat can help. That would make more sense then him quitting his job.

I had to check your profile after reading this, because just how your family was reacting, I honestly thought you had to be really young (based on their reactions, not your actions) Anyways, WOW, you're over 20! What in the world are your family members being so crazy for? You're an adult, you're married, I assume you live and work on your own, and have some financial stability. They have NO right to tell you when you should or shouldn't have a baby. Stand up to your famliy and tell them that they have no say, and thanks a lot for being so supportive!

I know rite!! its not like im 14 and got preg by 'acciedent'.

Steve and i have talked about this alot and we decided that we were both ready for the hard times to come.. and my families like "oh wel u's didnt even think bout it and rushed into it". <they have no idea!!!>

One of my reasons for wanting a baby now is not just cause i want to start a family (this is prob gunna sound stupid) but my DH is not getting any younger lol. And ive always wanted kids young anyway, just because they didnt know this doesnt mean i havent thought about it.. i jst hadnt told them lol
