However when such a large number of the mothers post topics like "ii noz u bitchez iz crazii" or "35 weeks and taking castEr oil" I find it rather unlikely.

They exaggerate so much!! Sorry, I haven't been keeping up on BG as much but seriously? "my baby knows colors at 12 months! He also know animals and the US presidents." ummm no, you are interpreting babble as actual words, baby geniuses barely know that smurf and there's not that many baby geniuses in the world or a lot of of our world problems would have been solved by now.. By 3 year olds.

I've cried many times over "progress updates" with Levi's age group. But I've only seen ONE kid that actually lived up to mommy expectations. I've learned to take it with a grain of salt, yes they are more advanced than me son who is extremely delayed but half that smurf isn't really there. Levi had me so fooled with his interpretation on body language and what he honestly understands. Now I know, some kids do know all that crap, most don't. It's memorization or knowing what brings praise so they do that. Again I've seen actual videos of one child actually doing all this, she does it in two languages and reads indepdantly, the rest is tricks and a good memory from children that are good mimics, not that they know the things mommy claims. I have been shown personally the difference.

I'm not saying don't be proud because I am proud of what Levi has learned given his extreme limitations but it has also shown me how to pick of mimicry and actual ability.

I agree! People seem to want genius children, but I would be thrilled with kids who were developing according to "schedule".

I once joked before Katie that it would be so fun to have a really smart kid. Katie could count to 100, say her abcs and spell everything when she was 2, but now at almost 4 she cant even tell you her name. Shes smart, she just cant communicate at all.

I know what you mean about the update reports. Ive learned to not schedule anything else for the day when we have evaluations because the rest of the day will be spent crying.

I was pretty much forced by my very good friend who also has a special needs child, into a moms group and we had a meetup Friday. It was amazing. They said everything I think all the time and it was good not to feel alone. I'm not social at all but this is really helping me. If you have a group in your area, I highly suggest joining.
