went to register for classes today...

And I had pretty high expectations but came out pretty bummed. I intended to take majority of my classes online since well, I have a baby and no one to watch him during the day. As it turns out, mostly all online classes are totally full. Every class was a trial and error. "Is this one open? No? What about this one? Not that one either, damn". I figured since most online classe were booked, I'd find classes I can take on campus during the weekends and evenings so I can have someone to watch DS. I really didn't want to take more than one class on campus because I hate being away from DS but I ended up having to take two on campus and only one online. That only gives me 9 credits. I'm so bummed. I wanted so badly to be full time and be able to finish in four years. I only can take three smurfing classes. I feel like such a dumbass and I'm letting my son down by not taking more classes and working harder to finish as quick as possible. Ugh, why do I feel like such a smurffy parent? I hate being away from DS and now I have to four two and three hours three times a week. Smurf.

You're not a smurffy parent. Is it that you really can't find anyone to watch your LO, or you just don't like being away from him? If you do have someone to watch your LO and you want to finish ASAP, then sign up for another class.

My mom can watch him a couple times. I have class for two hours on tues and thurs and a three hour class on Saturday morning. I don't want to put a burden on her to watch him anymore than that.

Your not a smurffy mom at all! Your going to college to better you guys lives! And that says a lot of how much you love him. Try getting daycare assistance so you can go to school? I know that I have had children whos moms went to school and I watched them and they never had to pay me. Either that or try and find other on line classes that will transfer to you liking in another online school close to you. But be very careful some classes do not transfer :S Good luck...

This!!! i've been out of school for 3 years and am finally going back. Guess how many classes I'm taking. A whole whopping 2 and then I work full time on top of it. So you most definitely are not a smurffy parent.

You can make up that time by taking a couple classes in the summer and easily finish in four years. Honestly, it's not a big deal! You did a great thing just enrolling.   Consider it a learning experience, and just register earlier next time.

You can still finish in 4 years - just take two classes in the summer. It'll be okay. And you are definitely not a smurffy parent. If anything your an even more amazing one by bettering your life. It doesn't matter if it takes you 4 years or 6 years, your doing a good thing by getting an education.
