Almost 39weeks and posterior position

posted 20th Aug
So I'm obviously almost at 39 weeks, and my baby is lying in the posterior position so his back is against my back. I think because of this his head hasn't engaged yet, although his head is down. Anyway, does anyone have helpful advice on how to help him roll over?? I've been leaning forwards a bit and going on my arms and knees so he hopefully moves.. But he doesn't seem to like the idea.

I'm no help. I went through labor and pushed for 5 hours with my posterior daughter. Ended in a c-section.

He may not like it but you still do it. Hands and knees with pelvic rocks and sitting on a birthing ball with your legs as far apart as you can safely manage then roll your hips in circles. Standing with one foot on a chair beside you and doing gentle sideways lunges opens the pelvis too. Good luck momma!!! I'm 39 weeks as well and my little guy keeps going posterior too. Here's to stubborn babies. LOL

Charlee was in the posterior position. I had no issues. 3.5 hour labor, 6 pushes (11 minutes total) and she slid on out. But they didn't seem to worried about her being posterior so I didn't do anything to turn her, so I dunno what you can do

My bub is measuring small so my midwife doesn't want me going past my due date! And I'd really like to avoid a C-sec.... Hopefully he rolls over soon... Kinda scared about delivering in posterior position.. I've heard the labour processes can be a lot more painful and go for a lot longer.

well to ease your mind my daughter was 9lb born posterior i had no epidural and it was the best labor i ever had it lasted 7hrs and wasn't even painful you more than likely wont deliver posterior technically they will turn the baby as its coming out so you will have posterior labor really

Was that days before labour or as labor started? I also read somewhere in early labor they can roll over and then engage.. Hopefully hopefully...

Yeah that makes sense! Not that I know for sure.. But i reckon I'll probably have to be induced cause he isn't engaged and they won't let me go over my due date cause he's a little one.. Although hopefully him being little makes birth easier!! Guess I'll have to wait and see!

when i was induced with my son labor was much more painful with the piticon i prefer to labor naturally its not near as painful so i rejected the idea of induction a second time around if you do end up being induced see if they cn use a foley bulb before piticion
