Forms of Emily?

posted 20th Aug
My boyfriend and I couldn't agree on a girl name AT ALL! Had 2 boy names picked out no problem, but we couldn't agree on a little girl's first name. We started tossing around names and I told him that I like my grandma's middle name, Emma...and he did too. Then he told me he liked Emily more...the name I've been trying to get him to like since we found out she was a girl! lol
Now the only problem is we can't agree on how to spell it. I can't stand the "normal" spelling of it...growing up with a common name spelled differently myself, I know that it's kind of neat to have friends with the same name...but different at the same time.
I really like EmmaLee or Emileigh, but he won't say whether he likes either or not :/ Any ideas on how to spell Emily that isn't typical?

Emily spelled any other way looks ignorant imo.

I LOVE the name Emilia.

I only thought of it because I was lurking in the classic baby name lovers thread yesterday...and saw it in the OP..Emmaleigh is trendeigh and Emilie is an ethnic spelling apparently

The "normal" spelling is boring? Why make up a spelling just because you think the correct spelling is boring. Your child is the one that has to grow up with the name.

I don't want to make up a spelling...hence why I'm asking different ways to spell it. My name is Courtney, but spelled Kortni and I enjoyed growing up with a name that was different than other people. It's not like I'm trying to make it look like something completely different but sound the same.

If your desperate for different spelling then do Emma-Leigh or something. Don't butcher the name.

Emma-Leigh would be butchering the name.

So pick an uncommon name? Emily is pretty normal and spelling it stupid isn't going to make it different in a good way.

No. Because Emma and Leigh are both names on their own. By hyphenating she can still have the emily without making it something crazy.

I don't personally like hyphenating but I think it's better then emaleigh or something like that.
