I've photographed quite a lot of dogs in engagement sessions and some in family sessions as well.

Expose for the sky behind your subject.

Ooh, love. Id be going back out there on a windy day. Theres an artist Ive always admired that does long exposure shots in places like this.

So like, set it to where the sky isn't blown out?
I'm doing a maternity shoot Tuesday and wanted to try it.

Yeah, basically..   Different types of lighting/skies make for various silhouettes but the general premise is expose for the sky/light behind the subject.

I just aim my camera at the sky above the subject and adjust my settings so that I have proper exposure for the sky (the sky won't be blown then). This makes my subject dark and the sky properly exposed.

Just make sure if you have two people that they really give you silhouette (not look at the camera but look at each other) and make sure if they are touching that it's just not one big lump but that they are touching and still leaving some space so you can see two separate people. I've had couples smush into each other and then it just looks like one big lump when they are dark.

these are beautiful!

I'm off for the night ladies. My youngest is finally "good-night storied" out and in bed and my hubby and I are about to start rolling sushi and settle in for a relaxing Saturday night movie.

I'm sure I'll wake up to about 20 pages of new posts again, so have fun chatting! lol

Thanks guys! She's supposed to let me know if it's just going to be her or her and her daughter and husband.
I'm still trying to figure out a good time. I want to do it at a certain time but I drop Tyler off at daycare at 10 and if I did it at 6:00-6:30 I'd have to leave him there all day and then have my sister take him home. Or I could try and find some shad at the park and do it around 3-4.
What would you all do?

Yes that is a very good tip - watch your people edges and make sure you see enough definition

So a friend of mine has definitely sold me on the 85mm 1.8. I was thinking so much more expensive for glass, then he shows me work hes done with it and Im just done   Im definitely glad because getting a cheaper lens can free me up to get other gear. Heres the series that sold me:
