I was asked to do a wedding OCTOBER 20TH! I'm not doing it for free but I don't want to be outrageous. Is $400 a lot to ask for? I'd be there all day, for makeup to reception.

that's true. Communication is very important as the shoot goes on. I prepare the stuff ahead of time based on talks/e-mails I have had with the client. They always get the homework before a shoot to let me know which pictures in my galleries are their favorites and why (the editing, the posing, the style etc.) This assures me that they have actually seen my work and know how I work and it gives me a better idea whether they like more formal, more natural, more studio or more outdoor type of pictures which helps me with planning their shoot. I often do stuff totally different than I have planned (especially with kids) if I notice that what we planned isn't working. I feel more comfortable going into a shoot with a plan and having it written down but I'm always open to changing it as we go along.

that's always my last question to them too before wrapping a shoot up. My "Desperate Housewives" Bachelorette shoot saw the neighbours old car and asked if they could pose by it. Since it was a group of 9 ladies and a baby, it made the shoot an extra 20 minutes longer by the time I cleared it up with the neighbour but it made them happy to get that extra pose in so I was glad to do it for them. Usually a client doesn't want anything more than what we already covered.
