Lens. It is great in low light because you can shooy at a wider aperture which lets in more light

Hey ladies just wanted to get your thoughts! I'm wanting to look into a fairly inexpensive macro lens that I can convince hubby to get me for a anniversary present, I seen the 40mm f2.8 and the reviews off Nikon's site seem pretty decent! Anyone use this lens or have experience with it? What would you recommend?

blahh, I have a session with a 3 month old boy today. I haven't had a 3 month session in a looong time ( I try to avoid them, lol)

any tips? I don't know what i'm going to do as far as set up goes.

was thinking of setting up kind of like I would for newborn and get some photos of him on a blanket, and then I have my white backdrop, that I was going to put my furry white rug down on the floor part of it.

I hope he's good at keeping his head up.

Holding up their head is really the key. Otherwise, propped up/laying in baskets or interacting with parents. That age range is everybody's least favorite, I think. I never love my sessions at that age.
Here are the Triplets 3 months photos: http://www.brandithompsonphotography.com/?p=3888 (they didn't hold their heads up.. they were JUST starting to)

I used a pillow under her to help her get up higher, since sometimes they just can't lift their heads up high enough, so I wanted her at an angle, but obviously you'd want a pillow that doesn't easily roll around (and mom and I were both within reach of her).

Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to have to dig out some baskets now.

Yeah, 3 month olds are like over-grown newborns that don't sleep.   not much you can do.

Here's to hoping he has good head control! lol

Yeah, good luck. Just know it's hard to get variety so you'll have to get it more through composition. I was lucky with Zaida.. she had great head control at 3 months.

Thankfully it's just a mini session, so I'm only providing her with around 10 photos.   haha. plus some of them will be with mom and him together.

That'll be fine then. Yeah.. no reason to do anything BUT a mini with that age.

I have a question for the people who photograph newborns-toddlers in studio settings.
Where do you find flooring for the cheapest??
Ive been thinking of a few diy projects, and picking up a cheap bamboo mat that I saw online for $25.
Is there anyone that sells photo flooring for less then $100.
Ive also heard of people using laminate flooring from hardware stores does this reflect back light?

Way back at the beginning we made a fake floor using laminate and it worked great
